Aeis is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Certified Welding Inspector to join our team in New York, New York. In this full-time position, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that all welding operations meet the highest standards of quality and safety. You will be responsible for inspecting welds, conducting tests, and providing feedback to our welding teams to enhance performance and compliance with industry regulations. What you'll do

• Conduct thorough inspections of welds to ensure compliance with industry standards and specifications, including AWS, ASME, and API.
• Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) methods such as ultrasonic testing (UT), radiographic testing (RT), and magnetic particle testing (MT) to assess weld integrity.
• Review and interpret welding procedure specifications (WPS) and ensure that all welding operations adhere to these guidelines.
• Collaborate with welding engineers and technicians to troubleshoot welding issues and provide solutions to enhance quality and efficiency.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and findings, and prepare detailed reports for management and clients.
• Train and mentor junior welding inspectors and technicians on best practices and safety protocols.
• Participate in safety audits and ensure that all welding activities comply with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
• Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and regulations to continually improve inspection processes and methodologies.
• Assist in the development and implementation of quality control programs to enhance overall welding performance.
• Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and clients to address any concerns related to welding quality and compliance.
• Attend project meetings and provide updates on inspection activities and findings.
• Support the continuous improvement of welding processes through feedback and recommendations based on inspection results.

Requirements

• Valid certification as a Welding Inspector (CWI) from a recognized organization such as the American Welding Society (AWS).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in welding inspection, preferably in a manufacturing or construction environment.
• Proficient in various welding processes, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
• Strong understanding of welding codes and standards, including AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, and API 1104.
• Experience with non-destructive testing methods and certification in NDT techniques is highly desirable.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills to evaluate weld quality and compliance.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey findings and recommendations.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and practices in welding operations.
• Proficient in using inspection tools and equipment, as well as computer software for reporting and documentation.

Nice to have

• Additional certifications in welding or inspection, such as Certified Welding Educator (CWE) or Certified Welding Supervisor (CWS).
• Experience with advanced welding technologies, such as laser welding or robotic welding systems.
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and quality management systems.
• Familiarity with project management software and tools.
• Previous experience in a leadership role within a welding inspection team.

• Proficient in using inspection tools such as calipers, gauges, and ultrasonic testing equipment.
• Familiarity with welding simulation software and inspection documentation systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions based on inspection results.

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
