Senior Technical Business Analyst
Job description
About the role
This position converts high-level product vision into detailed delivery plans for capital, commodity, and digital market clients. It bridges strategic product direction and execution in complex, fast-moving technical environments.
Analysts turn data into clear answers. They pull numbers, clean data, build dashboards, and explain what changed and why. The work supports decisions across sales, product, marketing, and operations. Strong analysts pair technical skill with business curiosity. Analysts are the bridge between data and decisions. Most analysts own recurring reports and are expected to improve them over time.
Key facts
What you'll do
Clear requirements are shaped early so solutions are well understood and ready for delivery when ambiguity arises.
Backlog review and estimation processes are driven, and planning activities are participated in to ensure alignment. Implementation and testing phases are followed up to verify that delivered solutions satisfy stated requirements.
Internal and external operational processes and workflows are improved calmly, pragmatically, and collaboratively.
Requirements
A strong technical and domain-driven mindset enables close collaboration with engineering teams. Hands-on experience with high-performance messaging or sequencing platforms such as Aeron, Kafka, Hydra, or equivalent is required, including understanding of message ordering, state machine replication, and fault-tolerant distributed systems. Demonstrated exposure to low-latency or high-throughput messaging infrastructure in financial or similarly demanding technical environments is necessary.
Experience in QA, Software Engineering, Technical Business Analysis, or another highly technical product environment is expected. A product-first mindset combines Domain-Driven Design principles with a deep understanding of systems and user impact. The ability to define and document functional and non-functional requirements clearly and effectively is essential. Understanding of performance, scalability, resilience, and availability in modern platforms is required. Experience working in Agile or Kanban environments across the full software development lifecycle is necessary. Confidence in contributing to architecture and design discussions simplifies complex challenges into deliverable solutions. A degree as specified in the listed requirements is mandatory.
Practical notes
The role is based in London and operates within a global team with offices in New York, Manila, Barcelona, and Montreal. Collaboration is central, and the environment involves ambiguous, fast-moving technical contexts. The engagement involves background checks as part of the employment process. Typical interview steps
Analyst interviews often include a SQL or spreadsheet exercise, a case question, and behavioral rounds. Candidates may be asked to analyze a dataset, define a metric, or estimate an outcome. Presenting findings clearly is tested as often as the analysis itself. Interviewers often test speed and clarity with a timed exercise. Explaining what the numbers mean, not just what they are, is the differentiator.
Good to know
The role operates in a high-standard engineering culture focused on crafting complex technical solutions. The environment emphasizes knowledge sharing and professional growth. Teams encourage open communication, idea sharing, and mutual support. The company offers flexible and hybrid working arrangements with considerations for work-life balance. Commitment to diversity and inclusion shapes team interactions and decision-making.
Questions to ask
Worth asking in any interview: how the team measures success, who the role works with daily, what the onboarding looks like, and what the company is trying to achieve this year. Asking what past hires did well is a strong final question. Keep the list short and pick the questions that matter most to you.
Career growth
Analyst careers can grow into senior analyst, analytics manager, or data science roles. Some analysts move into product or business operations. Deeper technical skills or broader business ownership are the two main paths. Analyst roles are a common on-ramp into product, marketing, or operations leadership. Building deep domain knowledge alongside analytics is the fastest path.
