About the role
As the Vice President of Sustainability at Acino, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing the company's sustainability strategy. You will be responsible for driving initiatives that align with our commitment to environmental stewardship and social responsibility. This leadership position requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of sustainability practices within the pharmaceutical industry. You will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure that Acino meets its sustainability goals while also adhering to regulatory requirements and industry standards.

What you'll do
- Develop and execute a comprehensive sustainability strategy that aligns with Acino's business objectives and enhances our corporate reputation.
- Lead cross-functional teams to integrate sustainability practices into all aspects of the business, including product development, manufacturing, and supply chain management.
- Monitor and report on sustainability performance metrics, ensuring transparency and accountability in our initiatives.
- Collaborate with external partners, including NGOs, governmental agencies, and industry groups, to promote best practices in sustainability and drive collective impact.
- Conduct regular assessments of environmental and social risks associated with our operations, proposing actionable solutions to mitigate these risks.
- Engage with employees at all levels to foster a culture of sustainability within the organization, encouraging innovative ideas and practices.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies related to sustainability, ensuring Acino remains a leader in this space.
- Manage the sustainability budget, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to support key initiatives and projects.
- Prepare and present sustainability reports to the executive team and board of directors, highlighting achievements, challenges, and future opportunities.
- Lead initiatives aimed at reducing the company's carbon footprint, waste generation, and water usage, setting ambitious yet achievable targets.
- Oversee the development of training programs and workshops to educate employees on sustainability practices and their importance.
- Advocate for sustainability within the broader pharmaceutical industry, representing Acino at conferences, workshops, and other public forums.
Requirements
- A Master's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 10 years of experience in sustainability roles, preferably within the pharmaceutical or healthcare sectors.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful sustainability strategies and initiatives.
- Strong understanding of environmental regulations, sustainability reporting standards, and best practices.
- Excellent leadership and project management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate diverse teams.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights.
- Proficiency in sustainability assessment tools and methodologies, such as Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and carbon footprint analysis.
- Experience in budget management and resource allocation for sustainability projects.
Nice to have
- Certification in sustainability or environmental management (e.g., LEED, ISO 14001).
- Experience working in emerging markets, particularly in the Middle East and North Africa region.
- Familiarity with corporate social responsibility (CSR) frameworks and practices.
- Knowledge of sustainable supply chain practices and circular economy principles.
- Multilingual abilities, particularly in Arabic and English, are advantageous.

- This position is based in Egypt and may require occasional travel to other locations for meetings and conferences.
