About the role
You will be the primary external sales representative for A Place for Mom, acting as the face of the brand within your designated territory. This role owns the end-to-end sales process with hospitals and skilled nursing facilities, directly interfacing with discharge planners and case managers to identify immediate needs. You are accountable for translating these professional relationships into qualified move-ins and home care placements on a consistent monthly basis. The position requires a high level of persistence and adaptability as you build and manage a book of accounts from initial contact to closed referral. You will educate both healthcare professionals and transitioning families on the specific senior care options available through your network. Success in this role hinges on your ability to develop strategic relationships while consistently driving lead generation and pipeline growth. You will analyze performance data to refine your approach and ensure that every interaction moves the funnel forward. This is a mission-driven role where your daily efforts directly connect seniors with the care they need during critical transition moments.

What you'll do
Work within the senior living industry to assist families and professional referral sources with urgent discharges from hospitals or skilled nursing facilities into appropriate senior communities or home care.
Generate a daily volume of qualified patient referrals from your assigned market plan accounts to ensure you meet your monthly target quota of families selecting a senior care option.
Maintain and update a proactive portfolio of existing clients, including social workers, case managers, and discharge planners, specifically within hospitals and skilled nursing centers across your open territory.
Develop, own, and expand your personal book of accounts to increase referral volume and strengthen the pipeline of opportunities in your region.
Cultivate new contacts within each account through networking, cold calls, and service presentations, while diligently following up on discharge outcomes to demonstrate the value of A Place for Mom.
Educate families on their distinct care options and how these solutions integrate with the support provided by a Healthcare Senior Living Advisor during the discharge process.
Collaborate closely with your partner Healthcare Senior Living Advisors to ensure coordinated efforts in moving families into communities or securing in-home care to meet monthly quotas.
Leverage analytics and reports within your CRM and internal tracking systems to develop, monitor, and adjust your sales pipeline effectively.
Pilot new testing initiatives, such as account scoring or CRM process changes, within your territory and provide structured feedback to improve team resources and methodologies.
Maintain strict adherence to the planned schedule, ensuring daily field presence in your territory to conduct presentations, make calls, and engage with spontaneous meetings.
Requirements
Hold a Bachelor's degree, which is preferred but not required for this position.
Possess 3-5 years of outside sales experience as an individual contributor with a proven history of exceptional prospecting and lead generation capabilities.
Bring specific knowledge of the Senior Living Industry and its unique sales cycles to the table.
Have documented hospital or skilled nursing facility sales experience that demonstrates familiarity with clinical environments.
Show a proven track record of consistently exceeding sales quotas while actively collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve these results.
Must be inherently relationship driven, balancing a strategic mindset with the ability to execute high-volume outreach.
Have successfully demonstrated experience presenting to target customers, handling complex objections, and guiding prospects toward a decision.
Thrive within a fast-paced, constantly changing independent work environment that requires a willingness to test new processes and execute tasks efficiently.
Maintain a hungry attitude focused on continuous learning and self-improvement, particularly in competitive sales scenarios.
Expected to travel locally on a daily basis throughout the five-day business week to meet with contacts in their offices.
Exhibit strong communication skills capable of resonating with both internal stakeholders and external parties at every organizational level.
Utilize effective time management skills to prioritize tasks and manage a high volume of appointments and follow-ups.
Be technologically focused and demonstrate proficiency in standard software, including Microsoft Office, Google Sheets, and a CRM platform such as Salesforce.
Nice to have
Knowledge of the Boston market and local healthcare facilities is advantageous for building territory familiarity.
Experience utilizing CRM dashboards to analyze performance metrics and forecast future outcomes.
Comfort with cold calling and service presentations in clinical or professional settings.
Practical notes
You will be in the field daily, working closely with your Regional Director to construct and refine your weekly account plan.
Your schedule will include scheduled presentations, proactive calls, and impromptu visits to meet with clinical staff and families experiencing urgent discharge situations.
This role is based in Boston, MA, and requires local travel during the standard five-day business week.
