Senior Product Manager
Job description
About the role
9fin is building the operating system for the global debt markets, the world's largest asset class, and you will own the strategy and execution for its external data distribution. You will define how proprietary credit data, analysis, and workflows are packaged and delivered as standalone data products to power firm-level automation for quant desks, data engineering teams, and risk functions. You will translate the breadth of 9fin's datasets into coherent product tiers, usage-based pricing models, and a developer experience that scales. You will partner with pre-sales, analytics engineering, and domain squads to align product capabilities with client procurement realities. This role is a 0-to-1 build where your decisions will set the commercial and technical blueprint for data products at scale. You will validate concepts with marquee clients and iterate based on real usage and feedback.
Key facts
What you'll do
Define the product vision and long-term roadmap for 9fin's external data distribution channels, including APIs, data shares, and future delivery mechanisms such as cloud sync and pub/sub.
Own the data catalogue strategy, determining which datasets are surfaced as products, in what combination, and in what order, balancing client demand, data readiness, and revenue potential.
Design and iterate on the developer experience end-to-end, covering API design, documentation, sandbox environments, error handling, rate limiting, and versioning to ensure adoption by technical buyers.
Collaborate with analytics engineering and domain data owners to define schemas, data models, and transformation logic that make 9fin's data reliable and consumable for external automated workflows.
Select and partner with 1-2 pilot clients to co-develop data products, validate use cases, and demonstrate value before broad market launch through a partner-driven go-to-market motion.
Define the commercial model for API and data product offerings, including packaging, tiering, usage-based pricing, distribution controls, and entitlement structures aligned with firm-level procurement.
Partner with the Head of Pre-Sales to ensure product solutions map to how clients evaluate, test, and buy data products, supporting joint POCs and multi-stakeholder deals.
Work cross-functionally with platform teams, analytics engineering, and domain squads to align product timelines, data quality standards, and operational capabilities.
Establish data product SLAs for latency, freshness, completeness, and uptime, and build the monitoring, metering, and alerting infrastructure required to uphold them.
Own the entitlements and access control layer to ensure the right clients access the right data under the right contractual terms, with appropriate usage limits and redistribution protections.
Requirements
You have built or scaled data products, APIs, or developer platforms in a B2B setting, with evidence of managing the full lifecycle from strategy to execution.
You have operated in regulated or enterprise environments where data reliability, compliance, and contractual controls are non-negotiable.
You are comfortable working with complex, high-value datasets where representation, lineage, and quality directly impact client workflows and risk models.
You have strong analytical judgment and can define product metrics, monitor product health, and iterate based on usage data and client feedback.
You communicate clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, aligning engineering, sales, and leadership around a coherent product vision.
You have experience coordinating across multiple teams, setting priorities, and delivering outcomes in a fast-paced, startup-like growth environment.
You understand the basics of financial data and debt markets, including the types of data that matter to quant desks, risk teams, and compliance functions.
You are comfortable with a 0-to-1 build, owning outcomes in an environment with limited precedent and evolving best practices.
Nice to have
Experience selling data or API products to enterprise buyers, especially in financial services.
Background in quantitative or systematic investment environments where data latency, quality, and programmatic access are critical.
Familiarity with regulatory considerations around data licensing, redistribution, and AI/ML usage of proprietary datasets.
