Key facts

What you'll do

• Take the lead on various projects within a collaborative, cross-functional team, guiding them from initial system design and proof-of-concept stages to the implementation of new service features, including APIs and automation tools.
• Design and develop backend services and web application tools that enhance the functionality of the 9fin platform.
• Serve as a senior individual contributor, responsible for conducting thorough code reviews, mentoring junior engineers, and engaging in early-stage research and technology experimentation.
• Focus on continuous improvement of the codebase by implementing automation, refactoring existing code, and maintaining comprehensive documentation where it will have the most impact.
• Work on a variety of web platforms that involve financial data modeling, access control mechanisms, environmental data capture, AI prediction services, and data visualization techniques.
• Collaborate with teams from financial, legal, and editorial backgrounds to ensure that high-quality information is effectively communicated to engineering teams.
• Simplify complex technical projects for non-technical stakeholders to ensure smooth progress and understanding across teams.
• Engage in regular brainstorming sessions to identify innovative solutions that can enhance the platform's capabilities and user experience.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Senior Individual Contributor Engineer, with a track record of leading system design discussions, infrastructure planning, and mentoring less experienced engineers.
• Proficiency in both frontend and backend development, with the ability to choose the best tools and technologies for specific challenges.
• In-depth knowledge of modern JavaScript/TypeScript, along with frameworks such as React.
• Demonstrated experience in building scalable backend services and APIs that can handle significant user loads.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools that enhance productivity while upholding high engineering standards.
• A strong focus on product development, emphasizing user experience, and working closely with designers and product managers to achieve this.
• Ability to independently oversee features from their initial concept through to design, implementation, deployment, and subsequent iterations.
• Excellent system design skills and problem-solving capabilities, balancing the need for rapid development with the importance of long-term maintainability.

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud services, particularly AWS, and familiarity with services like AWS Lambda.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like AWS ECS.
• Previous involvement in financial technology projects or a strong understanding of financial markets.
