You will act as the primary correspondent in a fast-moving sector, translating complex deals and market moves into clear narratives for sophisticated readers. You will own your daily story pipeline from sourcing to publication, setting the agenda rather than following it. You will challenge conventional wisdom by uncovering data and perspectives that few others access. You will collaborate closely with product and data teams to ensure your reporting highlights the most relevant platform insights. You will maintain strict independence while building a trusted network of sources across the private credit ecosystem. You will uphold the highest standards of accuracy and context in every piece you deliver. You will help shape how the global market understands risk, opportunity, and structure in private credit.

Requirements

• You are a seasoned journalist with a strong track record of reporting on finance or related complex sectors.
• You possess a deep commitment to factual accuracy, transparency, and rigorous source verification.
• You have experience building and maintaining confidential sources in highly regulated industries.
• You are comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and tight deadlines.
• You demonstrate an ability to translate dense financial information into clear, accessible language for professional readers.
• You have a proven history of original reporting that combines public data with confidential insights.
• You hold a bachelor's degree in journalism, finance, or a related field, or have equivalent professional experience.
• You are based in New York and able to work full-time onsite with flexibility for hybrid arrangements.
• You understand the importance of editorial independence and are prepared to uphold 9fin's strict ethical standards.
• You are legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship at this time.
• You have strong written and verbal communication skills, with a portfolio that reflects your ability to cover finance professionally.
• You are detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple deadlines while maintaining a high standard of work.
• You are willing to travel domestically for industry events and source meetings as required by the role.
• You are comfortable using data platforms and content management systems to support your reporting workflow.

Practical notes

The role is full-time based in New York, with a hybrid model that allows for up to three months of work abroad annually. You must be willing to travel domestically for market events and source meetings. The position offers a 25-day vacation policy, local public holidays, and a paid sabbatical after five years of service.
