Zscaler is on the lookout for a Senior Software Architect to become an integral part of the Identity and Access Management team. In this position, you will spearhead the design and execution of high-quality identity solutions while shaping the technical direction of our cloud-native security platform. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring that our identity products meet enterprise standards and effectively support our growing customer base.

What you'll do

• Take the lead in the technical design, development, and enhancement of the identity platform, ensuring it scales efficiently and cost-effectively.
• Define and manage the technical roadmap for Kubernetes infrastructure, focusing on architecting centralized Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions.
• Work collaboratively with various engineering teams to enhance the Common Identity platform, ensuring integration and functionality.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, fostering their professional development and technical skills.
• Drive the implementation of best practices in software architecture and development, ensuring high standards of quality and performance.
• Engage in strategic discussions to align the identity platform with the overall business objectives and technical vision of Zscaler.
• Conduct thorough code reviews and architectural assessments to maintain code quality and system integrity.
• Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to continually innovate and improve the identity solutions we offer.

Requirements

• A minimum of 12 years of hands-on experience in application architecture and development, particularly with Java.
• In-depth knowledge of Enterprise Java, Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), Object-Oriented Analysis (OOA), systems architecture, and RESTful APIs, including familiarity with frameworks such as Spring and Hibernate.
• Extensive experience with container technologies, especially Docker and Kubernetes, including managing large-scale clusters on platforms like AWS and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Proven track record in designing secure, automated Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using tools such as GitOps, ArgoCD, Jenkins, or GitLab CI, ensuring zero-downtime deployments.
• Strong technical skills in Global Server Load Balancing (GSLB), Layer 4/Layer 7 cloud load balancers, and Kubernetes Ingress Controllers like Envoy, NGINX, or Traefik.
• A foundational understanding of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technologies, with experience in securing or implementing AI-driven solutions.
• Familiarity with IAM protocols including SAML, OAuth, and OpenID Connect, as well as Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).
• Experience in developing enterprise-grade security or networking products is essential.

Nice to have

• Previous experience in building identity platforms or managing hyper-scale Kubernetes environments would be advantageous.
• Familiarity with cloud security best practices and compliance standards.
• Knowledge of microservices architecture and its application in identity management solutions.

Skills & tools

• Proficient in Java, Spring, Hibernate, and RESTful APIs.
• Experienced with Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, and GCP.
• Skilled in GitOps, ArgoCD, Jenkins, and GitLab CI for CI/CD processes.
• Knowledgeable in using Envoy, NGINX, and Traefik for load balancing and traffic management.
• Understanding of IAM protocols such as SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect, and PKI.
