As the Engineering Manager for the Online Storage team, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the critical infrastructure that underpins our entire product suite. You will lead a dedicated team focused on ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of our essential data and permissions systems.

What you'll do
- Lead the Online Storage team, with an ambitious plan to double the team size within a six-month timeframe.
- Spearhead initiatives aimed at enhancing multi-cell scalability, concentrating on aspects such as data isolation, regional distribution, and efficient cell provisioning.
- Ensure robust disaster recovery protocols and reliability measures for our core storage systems, adhering to defined Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).
- Establish and maintain the technical roadmap for our unified search platform, while also working on the integration of our permissions framework.
- Collaborate closely with product teams to strike a balance between rapid development cycles and the stability of the platform, ensuring necessary infrastructure safeguards are in place.
- Oversee the operational health of the systems, including managing incidents, enhancing observability, and organizing on-call rotations for the team.
- Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the engineering department.
- Engage with cross-functional teams to align engineering efforts with business objectives and customer needs.
Requirements
- A minimum of 6 years of professional experience in software engineering, demonstrating a strong technical foundation.
- At least 2 years of experience in a managerial role, leading a team of six or more engineers.
- Proven experience in building or maintaining production-grade data infrastructure, including expertise in distributed storage, caching mechanisms, search technologies, or relational databases.
- A Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related technical discipline is required.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Experience in the FinTech or Software as a Service (SaaS) industries, which would provide valuable insights into our customer base.
- A track record of successfully launching large-scale projects from inception to completion.
- Familiarity with working in smaller organizations where responsibilities span multiple areas.
- Demonstrated success in scaling engineering teams through proactive recruitment and talent development strategies.
Skills & tools
- Proficiency in using Aurora RDS for relational database management.
- Experience with Elasticache for caching solutions.
- Knowledge of MemoryDB for in-memory data storage.
- Familiarity with DynamoDB for NoSQL database management.
- Proficient in using S3 for object storage solutions.
- Experience with OpenSearch for search and analytics capabilities.
