This role defines integration architecture for commercial insurance. You will own Salesforce ecosystem decisions and production workflows. Designing distributed systems means challenging existing patterns while aligning technology with business outcomes daily. You translate complex broker needs into reliable digital experiences that move markets. You will report to the Director of Engineering. This is a remote-first role within Canada. #LI-Remote
Key facts
Our comprehensive internal software platform manages the entire lifecycle of commercial insurance. It includes online quoting, pricing and rating engines, document generation, user portals, and renewals. This custom solution supports diverse use cases for all key stakeholders, from customers and brokers to underwriters, carriers, and claims teams. While the platform utilizes PostgreSQL as its primary source of truth, it seamlessly integrates with a robust ecosystem of third-party SaaS applications. This includes a heavily customized Salesforce instance for broker management and Zendesk for ticketing, alongside a long tail of integrations spanning payment gateways, ERPs, marketing CRMs, automation tools, and telephony systems.
Here in Toronto, we have built a dedicated team to evolve this platform. We are looking for a Staff Software Developer
Integration to join our Engineering Team. This role owns integrations design and strategy, including Salesforce and its neighbours as production distributed systems.
What you will do
Architect integration strategies that connect Salesforce modules with external services for insurance operations.
Design data pipelines that synchronize information across PostgreSQL and diverse third-party platforms efficiently.
Orchestrate workflows that link quoting engines, document systems, and renewal modules into cohesive sequences.
Implement solutions for brokers, carriers, and claims teams using Zendesk structures and tailored Salesforce objects.
Evaluate incoming requirements to determine integration scope and long term technical direction.
Coordinate with payment processors, ERPs, and telephony systems to enable smooth commercial coverage lifecycle.
Guide partners through implementation phases while maintaining platform stability and performance standards.
Establish monitoring practices that track integration health across multiple environments and user groups.
Requirements
You must possess five years of experience building distributed systems for production environments.
You need hands on work with Salesforce APIs and related integration ecosystems in commercial contexts.
You understand PostgreSQL deeply while managing complex queries across large scale insurance datasets.
You have used Zendesk for ticket routing and customer communication workflows previously.
You know modern JavaScript or TypeScript for building client side interactions and user controls.
You can read legacy codebases and refactor modules without disrupting existing business operations.

Practical notes
Compensation for this role is $130,000 to $160,000 annually. What you'll do
