About the role
You will own the quality strategy for our core financial wellness products, ensuring that earned wage access, financial insights, and payment features operate with high reliability for thousands of employees. You will partner with product managers to translate business requirements into robust test coverage that protects user data and financial integrity. You will lead the execution of functional, regression, and end-to-end tests across web and mobile channels using modern automation practices. You will embed quality practices within multiple development pods, guiding developers and stakeholders to ship with confidence. You will maintain and evolve our mature automation framework, focusing on scalability, readability, and resilience. You will proactively monitor test execution in CI/CD pipelines, flagging issues before they impact users. You will contribute to sprint planning, grooming, and retrospectives to advocate for sufficient test investment. You will document test plans, test cases, and clear reporting to support compliance and continuous improvement.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Write and maintain automated tests across web and React Native mobile applications (iOS and Android) within our existing WebdriverIO framework.
- Perform functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing to validate behavior across user journeys.
- Run and monitor automated tests within CI/CD pipelines and flag issues proactively to reduce production risk.
- Debug test failures, analyze root causes, and communicate findings clearly to developers and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with developers and senior QA to define test strategies for new and existing features, aligning with product goals.
- Contribute to sprint planning, stand-ups, and grooming sessions to ensure adequate test coverage and risk mitigation.
- Create and maintain test plans, test cases, and reporting documentation that reflect current product complexity.
- Support shift-left testing practices to catch issues earlier in the development cycle and reduce rework.
- Grow your ownership of the automation framework over time with guidance from the team, improving architecture and tooling.
- Explore new testing approaches and tools that can enhance test reliability, speed, and maintainability.
- Participate in code reviews focused on testability and quality, providing constructive feedback to peers.
- Champion quality metrics and testing best practices to help the organization learn and improve continuously.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in QA automation or software development within a professional setting.
- Hands-on experience with WebdriverIO, Playwright, or a comparable modern test automation framework for web and mobile.
- Familiarity with TypeScript or JavaScript in a testing context to write and maintain test code.
- Exposure to React Native or mobile application testing is a valuable asset for this role.
- Experience running automated tests within CI/CD pipelines to detect regressions early and often.
- Solid debugging and troubleshooting skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
- Familiarity with API testing tools such as Mocha, Supertest, Postman, or similar to validate service behavior.
- Working knowledge of Git, GitHub, Jira, and Agile development practices to collaborate effectively in team workflows.
- Ability to understand technical requirements, break them into testable conditions, and verify outcomes accurately.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate test results, risks, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, scrappy environment where priorities can shift quickly and adaptability is essential.
- Willingness to learn and apply new technologies, frameworks, and testing methodologies as the product evolves.
- Commitment to following team processes while also suggesting improvements that enhance quality and efficiency over time.
- Openness to feedback and collaboration, working closely with cross-functional partners to achieve shared quality goals.
- Eligibility to work in Canada or the United States, with reliable access to necessary tools and environments for testing.
