Wrlgold is seeking a dedicated Long Planning Engineer to join our team in Red Lake, Ontario. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in developing and implementing strategic plans that optimize our mining operations while ensuring safety and efficiency.

What you'll do

• Develop and maintain long-term mine plans that align with the company's strategic objectives and operational capabilities.
• Collaborate with geologists and other engineering teams to integrate geological data into planning processes, ensuring accurate resource estimation.
• Utilize advanced software tools for mine planning, including but not limited to, Surpac, MineSight, or similar applications, to create detailed mine designs and schedules.
• Conduct economic evaluations of various mining scenarios to determine the most viable options for resource extraction.
• Prepare and present technical reports and presentations to stakeholders, including management and regulatory bodies, to communicate planning strategies and outcomes.
• Monitor and analyze production data to refine planning processes, ensuring that operational targets are met efficiently.
• Work closely with the operations team to ensure that the mine plan is executable and aligns with daily operational activities.
• Participate in risk assessment and management processes to identify potential challenges in the mining plan and propose mitigation strategies.
• Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance planning methodologies and processes, promoting best practices within the team.
• Assist in the training and development of junior engineers and interns, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
• Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and regulations that may impact long-term planning in mining operations.
• Contribute to the development of sustainability initiatives within the planning framework, ensuring environmental considerations are integrated into the mining strategy.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in mine planning or a similar role within the mining industry.
• Proficiency in mine planning software such as Surpac, MineSight, or equivalent tools.
• Strong understanding of geological principles and resource estimation techniques.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey technical information clearly to diverse audiences.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while managing multiple priorities.
• Familiarity with relevant mining regulations and safety standards in Canada.
• Strong project management skills, with experience in leading planning initiatives from conception to execution.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in a relevant field, such as Mining Engineering or Business Administration.
• Experience with economic modeling and financial analysis related to mining operations.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability practices in mining.
• Previous experience in underground mining operations.
• Membership in a professional engineering association or certification as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada.
