About the role
You will own the end-to-end people and workplace experience for WRITER's London office, serving as the operational backbone that keeps the EMEA team functioning at its best. This role requires you to manage the full employee lifecycle support for our growing team, ensuring policies, benefits, and critical documents are handled with precision and care. You will act as the primary on-site presence for People Operations, translating strategy into daily execution that directly impacts employee satisfaction and retention. By owning the physical and digital employee journey, from the moment a new hire walks in to their ongoing workspace needs, you ensure a seamless and supportive environment. You will partner closely with Talent and leadership to coordinate interview logistics and maintain a consistent, professional standard for every employee interaction. This position is responsible for maintaining the integrity of our workplace operations, managing budgets, and optimizing vendor relationships to deliver high-impact results. You will be the driving force behind thoughtful office policies and processes that scale efficiently as the London hub continues to grow.
Key facts
What you'll do
Own the People Ops ticket queue for the London office, triaging and responding to employee inquiries related to policies, benefits, onboarding, documentation, employment verifications, and general People Operations support, escalating or redirecting to other People Team members as appropriate.
Act as the on-site liaison for all People Operations functions across EMEA, including onboarding, offboarding, benefits and compensation administration, and time off, while partnering with Talent to schedule interview loops and greet candidates in office.
Create a welcoming and productive daily experience for our London WRITER employees and their guests, managing office inventory to ensure the space is well-equipped with snacks, beverages, and supplies.
Organize and support internal and external company events and meetings, including the new hire onboarding program and global All Hands, ensuring every gathering runs smoothly and reflects WRITER's culture.
Own space and capacity planning for the London office, continually enhancing the office layout and seating plan as the team grows, and managing mail, shipping, receiving, and other office logistics.
Maintain the London office budget and manage relationships with property management and vendors for various services, repairs, and support, ensuring financial stewardship and high ROI for our spend.
Create and iterate on office policies and processes that drive efficiency and better employee experiences across the London hub.
Build and manage the new hire onboarding experience, ensuring every joining WRITER in London has a clear, structured, and welcoming introduction to the team, tools, and culture.
Serve as the central point of contact for facilities, IT support, and workplace services, coordinating timely resolutions to any issues that arise in the office environment.
Proactively identify workplace trends and employee needs, gathering feedback and data to inform decisions that improve engagement, productivity, and satisfaction.
Manage the lifecycle of office assets, from procurement and tracking to disposal, ensuring resources are used effectively and responsibly.
Support diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within the London office by helping to coordinate programs, events, and communications that reinforce our values.
Ensure compliance with HR policies, local regulations, and legal requirements related to employment and workplace operations in the UK.
Continuously benchmark the London office experience against best practices, identifying opportunities to innovate and elevate the employee journey.
Requirements
Experience in a Human Resources or People Operations role, preferably at a high-growth tech company where you've supported a scaling team through rapid change.
A proactive problem solver who anticipates and resolves issues before they escalate, with a hospitality mindset that is friendly, approachable, and genuinely invested in creating delightful employee experiences.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills that demonstrate a high level of professionalism, with strong proactive communication habits both in sync and async settings.
Exceptional prioritization and time management skills, with the ability to juggle many tasks and competing priorities without dropping the ball.
Hands-on experience managing office operations, vendor relationships, and budgets, with a track record of making physical workspaces better for the people in them.
A builder's mindset with genuine excitement about creating scalable processes and continuously improving how a People function operates day to day.
A passion for workplace culture and employee experience, with the ability to bring WRITER's values to life in tangible, everyday actions.

Practical notes
This role is office-based in our London office at the Parcels building, with 5 days in the office every week.
This role reports to the head of people operations.
