About the role
Workato is actively searching for a Senior Instructional Designer to join its learning team and contribute directly to the success of its customers and internal stakeholders. In this capacity, you will own the end-to-end creation of learning materials that explain intricate integration and automation concepts. A core part of your responsibility will involve translating dense technical documentation into clear, engaging, and accessible training for Workato Orchestrate and Agentic features. You will ensure that learners can effectively adopt the platform, understand its capabilities, and utilize it to solve real business problems. This position requires a strong sense of ownership over the learner journey from initial exposure through mastery. You will be accountable for maintaining the accuracy and relevance of training as the product evolves. Ultimately, your work will drive product adoption and empower users to unlock the full potential of Workato's automation platform.

What you'll do
- Design comprehensive learning paths, structured courses, and focused microlearning modules tailored for Workato products such as Agent Studio, Enterprise MCP, and the API Platform.
- Author high-quality instructional content, including engaging videos, interactive e-learning modules, detailed documentation, and practical job aids that utilize strong storytelling and high user engagement.
- Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Customer Success teams to ensure that training initiatives align with the customer lifecycle, go-to-market strategies, product capabilities, and the overall product roadmap.
- Develop hands-on labs and realistic scenarios that allow learners to practice building and managing Genies, configuring specific skills, and creating robust data orchestration workflows.
- Construct valid assessments, knowledge checks, and performance-based evaluations to accurately measure learner proficiency and retention of complex materials.
- Liaise with Product, Engineering, Customer Success, and a diverse range of subject matter experts to clarify intricate technical requirements and guarantee alignment with both the product roadmap and demanding customer requirements.
- Gather and analyze learner feedback along with quantitative analytics to iteratively improve instructional content and actively contribute to the enhancement of team standards and processes.
- Monitor emerging trends in AI, automation, and agentic technologies to ensure that Workato's training curriculum remains innovative, relevant, and consistently industry-leading.
- Create job aids and performance support tools that help users solve problems quickly and apply learning directly to their daily work.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and deadlines to meet the demands of a fast-paced product development environment.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs by defining success metrics and reporting on learner outcomes to key stakeholders.
- Mentor junior instructional designers by sharing expertise and providing guidance on best practices for designing effective learning experiences.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience designing technical learning content specifically for Software as a Service (SaaS) platforms, automation solutions, or artificial intelligence (AI) products.
- Possess the ability to quickly understand and design learning content for highly complex technical concepts, including AI agents, intricate knowledge bases, robust APIs, and sophisticated data orchestration workflows.
- Exhibit proficiency in using a variety of authoring tools and multimedia production software to create high-quality digital learning experiences.
- Have a proven track record of collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams, including Product, Engineering, and Customer Success, to achieve shared objectives.
- Apply an analytical approach to designing evaluation mechanisms for both qualitative and quantitative data and feedback to drive continuous improvement of training programs.
- Communicate effectively in written and verbal formats, conveying complex ideas clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
- Bring a minimum of 6 years of cumulative experience in the field of instructional design, with a strong background in curriculum development, e-learning creation, and multimedia content production.
- Show prior experience working with low-code/no-code platforms, automation technologies, or AI-driven products to better relate to the target audience.
- Demonstrate familiarity with established adult learning theories and current instructional design best practices.
- Have hands-on experience creating various forms of digital media, including simulations, animated videos, and static graphics.
- Have experience developing and delivering training for multiple modalities, such as virtual sessions, hands-on workshops, instructor-led training, and asynchronous learning modules, for a wide range of audience types.
Nice to have
- Preferred experience with learning management systems (LMS) and tracking learner analytics.
- Knowledge of or experience with coding or scripting to enhance learning interactions.
