About the role
Wise is excited to announce the establishment of a new engineering hub in São Paulo, Brazil, and we are on the lookout for seasoned Staff Software Engineers to join our pioneering team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in developing and scaling our regional infrastructure that supports both consumer and business onboarding processes, as well as facilitating money movement. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to influence the technical culture and practices within our new office.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Design, develop, and implement services that streamline the onboarding process for both consumers and businesses while enhancing regional money transfer capabilities.
- Collaborate with local banks, payment networks, and identity verification partners to seamlessly integrate our platform into the financial ecosystem.
- Enhance compliance workflows and refine Know Your Customer (KYC) and Know Your Business (KYB) processes tailored to the diverse regulatory landscapes across Latin America.
- Architect scalable technical solutions that adhere to local regulatory standards and requirements, ensuring compliance while maintaining performance.
- Conduct thorough code reviews and provide constructive technical feedback to uphold and elevate engineering excellence within the team.
- Work closely with global teams to ensure alignment on product strategies and the ongoing evolution of our systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve intricate issues related to cross-border payments and local integrations, ensuring a smooth user experience.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering their development and contributing to the overall growth and success of the São Paulo engineering hub.
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to propose, advocate for, and implement technical strategies and roadmaps that drive engineering initiatives.
- Extensive experience in designing and maintaining scalable financial systems that meet compliance requirements.
- A strong history of providing technical leadership and mentorship within engineering teams, helping to cultivate talent and knowledge sharing.
- Proficiency in English is essential, as all application materials must be submitted in English for consideration.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with various financial regulations across Latin American countries, enhancing the ability to navigate compliance challenges.
- Experience with cloud-based technologies and platforms, particularly in the context of financial services.
- Knowledge of agile methodologies and practices, contributing to a dynamic and flexible engineering environment.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in programming languages such as Java, Python, or similar, with a strong understanding of software development principles.
- Experience with microservices architecture and RESTful APIs, enabling effective service integration and communication.
- Familiarity with database technologies, both SQL and NoSQL, to support data-driven applications.
- Understanding of DevOps practices and tools, facilitating continuous integration and deployment processes.
