About the role
Join the Scam Prevention team to defend our platform against financial crime. You will take full ownership of projects that secure customer accounts and enhance our global transaction monitoring systems. In this capacity, you will architect resilient solutions that directly impact the safety of millions of users across diverse markets. You will drive the full lifecycle of complex features, from initial discovery through design, implementation, and production deployment. This role demands a proactive mindset where you identify risks, propose mitigations, and own the outcomes of your technical decisions. You will translate ambiguous security requirements into robust technical specifications that guide cross-functional collaboration. Your work will ensure that our controls remain effective, scalable, and aligned with evolving regulatory expectations.

What you'll do
- Architect and implement backend services that power real-time detection of fraudulent transactions and emerging scam patterns.
- Write high-quality Java code using the Spring framework to build scalable, low-latency components that handle critical security workflows.
- Design and optimize data models for both relational and non-relational databases to ensure efficient storage and retrieval of fraud indicators.
- Develop and maintain frontend user interfaces using React, JavaScript, and Typescript to support investigation workflows and analyst tooling.
- Build and refine automated detection capabilities, including rules engines and feature pipelines, to support rapid product iteration.
- Collaborate closely with Data Science, Product, and Investigation teams to translate hypotheses into testable controls and measurable outcomes.
- Implement and oversee CI/CD pipelines to enable safe, frequent, and reliable deployments of security-sensitive changes.
- Apply a strong product mindset to prioritize initiatives, define success metrics, and lead projects with minimal supervision.
- Champion Test Driven Development practices to ensure high code quality, maintainability, and resilience in production systems.
- Analyze complex system behaviors, diagnose performance bottlenecks, and optimize distributed concurrent workflows for reliability.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to scope solutions that balance security, usability, and operational efficiency.
- Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing to support long-term maintainability and team scalability.
- Evaluate new technologies and frameworks to assess their applicability to fraud detection and prevention challenges.
- Act as a technical owner for key initiatives, guiding them from conception through to stable production operation.
Requirements
- You have professional experience working with Java or other JVM-based languages and the Spring framework in production environments.
- You have a background in building scalable web applications that can handle high throughput and concurrent user loads.
- You possess hands-on experience with React, JavaScript, and Typescript for developing interactive user interfaces.
- You are proficient in designing and managing distributed, concurrent systems that meet strict reliability and performance standards.
- You have practical experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code practices to automate testing and deployment.
- You are comfortable working with relational and non-relational databases, including schema design, query optimization, and indexing strategies.
- You demonstrate a commitment to Test Driven Development, clean code principles, and high standards of software quality.
- You have a strong product mindset and the ability to lead projects independently while aligning with business objectives.
- You are legally authorized to work in the United Kingdom without sponsorship, as the role is based in London.
- You have the right to live and work in the United Kingdom, with no restrictions on your employment eligibility.
- You are available to start within a reasonable timeframe as dictated by business needs.
