What you'll do
- Lead the planning and execution of substation projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
- Develop and manage project schedules, resource allocation, and budgets, providing regular updates to stakeholders.
- Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure that all designs meet regulatory and safety standards.
- Facilitate communication between internal teams and external partners, including contractors and suppliers, to ensure project alignment.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to address potential project challenges.
- Oversee the procurement process for materials and services, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.
- Monitor project progress and performance, implementing corrective actions as necessary to keep projects on track.
- Prepare and present project reports to senior management and stakeholders, highlighting key milestones and challenges.
- Ensure that all project documentation is complete, accurate, and stored in accordance with company policies.
- Foster a culture of safety by ensuring that all team members adhere to safety protocols and best practices on-site.
- Mentor and guide junior project team members, providing support and resources for their professional development.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in substation technology to enhance project outcomes and efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in project management within the electrical utility or construction industry, specifically with substation projects.
- Proven track record of successfully managing projects from conception through to completion.
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and substation design.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficient in project management software and tools, such as Microsoft Project or Primavera.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and standards related to electrical construction and substation operations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing project demands.
Nice to have
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
- Experience with renewable energy projects, particularly solar or wind energy substations.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar design software for electrical engineering applications.
- Previous experience working with regulatory agencies and navigating compliance requirements.
- Understanding of contract management and negotiation skills.
