About the role
Westair is seeking a dedicated CAMO Engineer/Planner to join our dynamic team in Windhoek. This full-time position plays a crucial role in ensuring the continued airworthiness of our fleet through meticulous planning and management of maintenance activities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in aviation engineering and a passion for maintaining high safety standards. As a CAMO Engineer/Planner, you will collaborate closely with various departments to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and the efficient operation of our aircraft.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Develop and maintain the Continuing Airworthiness Management Exposition (CAME) in compliance with regulatory standards and company policies.
- Oversee the planning and execution of scheduled maintenance tasks, ensuring all activities are completed on time and within budget.
- Conduct regular audits of maintenance records and processes to ensure compliance with aviation regulations and company standards.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to identify and resolve technical issues, providing expert guidance on airworthiness matters.
- Prepare and submit necessary documentation to regulatory authorities, ensuring all submissions meet the required standards.
- Analyze aircraft performance data to identify trends and recommend improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
- Coordinate with external service providers for specialized maintenance tasks, ensuring all work is performed to the highest standards.
- Assist in the development and implementation of maintenance programs that align with operational goals and regulatory requirements.
- Provide training and support to junior engineers and planners, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory changes, ensuring the company remains compliant and competitive.
- Participate in safety management system initiatives, contributing to a proactive safety culture within the organization.
- Prepare reports and presentations for management, summarizing maintenance activities, compliance status, and areas for improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Aviation Maintenance Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in aircraft maintenance or airworthiness management, preferably within a CAMO environment.
- Strong knowledge of aviation regulations, including EASA and FAA standards.
- Proficiency in maintenance tracking software and tools, with experience in data analysis and reporting.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented mindset, with a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and compliance.
Nice to have
- Experience with specific aircraft types operated by Westair, such as regional jets or turboprops.
- Familiarity with safety management systems and risk assessment methodologies in aviation.
- Additional certifications in aviation safety or maintenance management.
- Knowledge of lean management principles and their application in aviation maintenance.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and maintenance management software.
- Strong analytical skills for data interpretation and decision-making.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies.
Practical notes
- This position is based in Windhoek, Namibia, and may require occasional travel for audits or training.
