What you'll do

Assess the aesthetic quality of map layouts and visual hierarchies to ensure clarity and professional polish.

Judge the readability of map labels, symbols, and interface elements across different zoom levels and screen sizes.

Evaluate the overall polish of digital map designs by checking for alignment, contrast, and visual consistency.

Review viewport framing to determine whether key locations are presented within meaningful and intuitive map views.

Examine geospatial accuracy by comparing depicted points of interest with their expected real world positions.

Analyze content relevance by judging whether recommended places match the user's implied context and search intent.

Follow strict project instructions to categorize specific design flaws such as "Icons not properly masked" or "Labels too small."

Tag visual and functional issues precisely so that design and engineering teams can reproduce and resolve them efficiently.

Provide detailed feedback on how well personalized location recommendations support user goals and decision making.

Contribute to the ongoing refinement of rating criteria by identifying edge cases and ambiguous design situations in map presentation.

Requirements

You must have an eye for artistic detail and intuitive design, allowing you to notice subtle visual inconsistencies in map interfaces.

You must think critically about spatial accuracy, relevance, and context, ensuring that map representations align with real world expectations.

You must care about delivering polished and helpful digital experiences that balance beauty with clear functional intent.

You must be able to follow complex project guidelines and apply them consistently across a large set of map evaluations.

You must demonstrate strong attention to detail to ensure that your ratings are reliable and reproducible over repeated tasks.

You must communicate your observations clearly in written form, providing enough context for designers and engineers to act on your feedback.

You must be based in the United States and able to work under the constraints of a freelance, hourly engagement model.

Practical notes

The project runs on a weekly basis, with an estimated time commitment of 8 to 10 hours per week.

Eligible candidates will be added to a pool of certified raters and contacted at least 48 hours before kickoff.

Hourly compensation is set at $20.30 for contracted freelance work.

All communication and task execution must be conducted in US English.

This is a freelance role, meaning you will manage your own schedule and deliverables within the outlined weekly timeframe.

Strict adherence to project instructions is essential to maintain your status as a certified rater.
