Lead Salesforce Developer
Job description
About the role
You will act as the ultimate technical authority for the Salesforce platform, ensuring it remains a secure, performant, and scalable engine that directly supports customer-facing teams and corporate strategy. In this role, you will partner deeply with product managers, enterprise architects, and cross-functional leaders to translate complex business initiatives into robust, future-proof technical solutions. You are expected to pioneer industry best practices, define technical standards, and mentor the engineering team to elevate the collective output and maturity of the development function. This position requires a strategic mindset capable of aligning intricate corporate requirements with a coherent and resilient Salesforce architecture. You will own the governance and innovation roadmap for the platform, balancing rapid delivery with long-term stability and technical excellence.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Serve as the platform steward responsible for the overarching technical architecture and governance of the Salesforce ecosystem, ensuring all implementations meet enterprise-grade standards for scalability, security, and performance.
- Define, document, and enforce global development standards, branching strategies, design patterns, and CI/CD maturity models to create a consistent and high-performing development lifecycle for the entire Salesforce team.
- Establish and manage platform guardrails to proactively handle governor limits, data storage optimization, and technical debt remediation across all Salesforce clouds.
- Architect end-to-end solutions within Sales Cloud and Service Cloud, optimizing complex automated business workflows, handling large data volumes, and managing highly customized Service Console and CTI integrations.
- Lead the architectural direction for Experience Cloud, utilizing Lightning Web Runtime (LWR) to build highly secure, globally performant, and deeply integrated self-service and partner portals.
- Own the security architecture for external-facing sites, establishing strict data sharing rules, guest user security policies, and comprehensive vulnerability mitigation strategies.
- Architect and oversee the full Salesforce Billing and CPQ lifecycle, ensuring seamless, audit-ready data flows across pricing, billing rules, invoice generation, revenue recognition, and financial close processes.
- Act as the technical owner of the synchronization layer between Salesforce Billing and the General Ledger (such as Sage Intacct or other ERPs), ensuring absolute data integrity, reconciliation accuracy, and robust error-recovery frameworks.
- Design robust, decoupled integration architectures using MuleSoft, event-driven patterns like Platform Events and Pub/Sub API, and secure REST/SOAP frameworks to connect Salesforce with enterprise systems.
- Define the integration strategy for contract lifecycle management (CLM) and document automation tools such as DocuSign and Conga, standardizing approaches across the enterprise.
- Act as the ultimate technical escalation point for the Salesforce engineering team, unblocking complex debugging scenarios related to integrations, billing runs, and performance bottlenecks.
- Actively mentor Senior and Mid-level developers and administrators, cultivating a culture of engineering excellence, continuous learning, and architectural thinking within the team.
- Lead technical design reviews and architecture review boards, providing critical feedback and guidance on major initiatives before code progresses to production environments.
- Partner directly with Finance, Revenue Operations, and Executive Leadership to translate complex corporate revenue policies and billing requirements into scalable automated platform mechanics.
Requirements

- Bring a minimum of 8+ years of dedicated Salesforce development and architecture experience to the role.
- Demonstrate a proven track record of architecting and leading enterprise-scale deployments across Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, and Salesforce Billing environments.
- Show evidence of mentoring and informally leading technical teams, driving the delivery of scalable solutions, and managing heavy technical debt remediation effectively.
- Possess mastery of programmatic Salesforce development, including Apex, advanced Lightning Web Component architecture, SOQL/SOSL, and asynchronous processing paradigms.
