About the role
Weave is seeking a dedicated Fraud Analyst to join our Payments Risk Management Team, where your primary responsibility will be to safeguard the organization against financial losses stemming from fraudulent activities. In this role, you will focus on identifying and preventing fraud while also enhancing our fraud detection systems and processes. Your contributions will be vital in maintaining the integrity of our payment systems and ensuring a secure environment for our clients and merchants.

What you'll do
- Analyze high-value transactions to detect potential fraud, escalating any suspicious findings to the appropriate teams for further investigation.
- Conduct thorough investigations into fraudulent and high-risk transactions, identifying patterns and root causes in collaboration with internal teams and merchant partners.
- Continuously monitor merchant accounts for any unusual activities, such as significant changes in transaction patterns or increased dispute rates, to proactively address potential fraud.
- Work closely with the Risk Management team to develop and refine frameworks that assess merchant risk and identify potential fraudulent activities effectively.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of fraud management tools and processes, staying informed about new technologies and strategies that can improve fraud detection.
- Generate detailed reports on fraud trends and findings to inform decision-making and strategy adjustments within the team.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings to share insights and collaborate on initiatives aimed at reducing fraud risk across the organization.
- Provide training and support to team members on best practices for fraud detection and prevention, fostering a culture of vigilance and proactive risk management.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in financial investigations, payment fraud analysis, or a related field, demonstrating a solid understanding of fraud prevention techniques.
- Strong analytical abilities to discern patterns, trends, and anomalies within financial data, enabling effective fraud detection.
- Proven capability to tackle complex financial issues with innovative problem-solving skills that lead to actionable solutions.
- Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accurate analysis and identification of suspicious activities within transactions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, allowing you to convey financial information clearly to diverse audiences, including technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfort with technology and a proactive attitude towards learning new fraud detection tools, adapting to the continuously evolving landscape of fraud trends.
- A self-motivated approach that encourages you to identify areas for improvement and propose effective solutions to enhance fraud management processes.
Nice to have
- Experience in creating and executing data queries to support fraud analysis efforts.
- Familiarity with payment processing platforms, particularly Stripe, to understand transaction flows and potential vulnerabilities.
- Beginner to intermediate proficiency in SQL, enabling you to manipulate and analyze data effectively.
- Experience with Snowflake for data reporting and analysis, enhancing your ability to generate insights from large datasets.
- Knowledge of Sigma for report creation and data visualization, aiding in the presentation of findings to stakeholders.
