About the role
Waymo is seeking a Silicon Validation Manager to lead the post-silicon validation efforts for our custom machine learning systems on chip (SoCs). This position involves strategic planning and coordination of resources to ensure the successful execution of silicon validation projects. You will play a key role in shaping the future of AI and ML hardware acceleration.

What you'll do
- Lead the team responsible for the post-silicon validation of custom ML SoCs, defining strategies and overseeing project execution.
- Develop and implement test plans for silicon systems and subsystems, managing silicon bring-up, new product introductions, and ongoing support efforts. Act as the main liaison between your team and other departments, including hardware, software, manufacturing, and supply chain.
- Ensure silicon meets all functional and performance standards, managing the qualification and characterization processes, and addressing any issues that arise throughout the product lifecycle.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Over 10 years of practical experience in silicon bring-up and validation or product characterization within a product development engineering role.
- At least 5 years of experience in managing a silicon development team and leading post-silicon initiatives, including project planning and team coordination.
- Proven experience in technical leadership or management for new product introductions in custom silicon.
- Proficiency in firmware development, as well as programming skills in C++ and Python.
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment and debugging tools, including oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, and JTAG debuggers.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.
Nice to have
- A Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science, focusing on computer architecture.
- Comprehensive experience with the silicon development lifecycle, including validation, architecture and design requirements, and post-silicon execution.
- Background in transitioning silicon to high-volume manufacturing and sustaining programs.
- Direct experience in silicon design or verification, with knowledge of SystemVerilog.

Practical notes
The expected salary range for this position is between ₹9,250,000 and ₹11,000,000 INR. Actual compensation will depend on various factors, including location, experience, and education. Additionally, Waymo employees may qualify for an annual bonus program, equity incentives, and a comprehensive benefits package, subject to eligibility criteria.
