Senior Materials Program Manager

About the role

The is responsible for owning the end-to-end material flow for complex autonomous driving modules, driving risk-based decision making from intake through execution. This role requires a leader who can translate technical constraints into actionable material strategies while maintaining rigorous standards across the supply chain. You will act as the central communication hub between engineering, suppliers, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless execution. The position demands a high level of ownership over ambiguous problems, requiring proactive identification of material risks before they impact production. Success in this role is defined by the ability to balance strategic forecasting with tactical issue resolution. You will be instrumental in ensuring that the right materials are available at the right time to support both current production and future innovation. The role is grounded in the reality of building hardware for the Waymo Driver, the company's core technological product.

What you'll do

• Orchestrate the complete material flow for complex modules, managing risk triggers and delivery timelines from initial intake to partner execution.
• Architect and implement material management strategies that support both sustaining programs and new product development initiatives at scale.
• Audit MRP systems, planning tools, and contract manufacturing records to ensure inventory accuracy and data integrity across the supply chain.
• Partner with supply and demand planners to synchronize forecasts and secure long-lead-time materials necessary for future program launches.
• Plan, procure, and ensure the on-time delivery of strategic consigned components to production sites across the manufacturing network.
• Synthesize material status and simulation outcomes into executive-level presentations that steer high-impact strategic decisions.
• Administer the Clear To Build (CTB) process, resolve holds, and authorize releases for multi-module projects with strict compliance.
• Develop data models that visualize supply and demand flows to uncover and mitigate bottlenecks across facilities and programs.
• Coordinate recurring visits with contract manufacturers in Taiwan to resolve operational issues and track critical commitments.
• Interface directly with engineering teams to translate technical requirements into actionable material specifications.
• Monitor supplier performance metrics and drive corrective actions to maintain adherence to quality and delivery standards.
• Lead cross-functional working sessions to align stakeholders on material readiness and production ramp plans.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of material statuses, decisions, and escalations for audit and continuous improvement.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for material-related disruptions affecting autonomous vehicle production.
• Ensure all material handling processes comply with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Bring a minimum of ten years of progressive experience as a Materials Planner or Program Manager in high-tech or automotive sectors.
• Demonstrate the capability to create detailed supply and demand models using enterprise systems.
• Exhibit meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in data and execution.
• Possess effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with diverse stakeholders.
• Show proficiency in delivering clear and persuasive presentations to executive-level audiences.
• Have a proven track record of managing complex projects with multiple interdependent deliverables.
• Display strong analytical skills to interpret data and drive decisions in fast-paced environments.
• Commit to working within the standardized processes and governance frameworks of a global technology company.
• Must be authorized to work in Taiwan without sponsorship requirements.
• Must relocate to Taipei, Taiwan, for the duration of the assignment.
• Must adhere to Waymo's code of conduct and safety standards in all operational activities.

• Hold a master's degree or an MBA.
• Possess extensive hands-on experience with SAP modules.
• Have a background in autonomous vehicle or robotics supply chains.
• Demonstrate experience with consignment inventory management.
