What you'll do

• Assist in managing litigation cases from inception to resolution, ensuring all legal documents are prepared accurately and timely.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including engineers and product teams, to gather relevant information and evidence for ongoing cases.
• Conduct thorough legal research to support litigation strategies and provide insights on case law and regulatory developments.
• Draft and review a variety of legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and settlement agreements.
• Coordinate with external counsel, managing communications and ensuring alignment on case strategy and objectives.
• Monitor and analyze litigation trends and outcomes to inform future legal strategies and risk assessments.
• Organize and maintain case files, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and easily accessible for the legal team.
• Assist in preparing for depositions, hearings, and trials by organizing exhibits, witness lists, and other necessary materials.
• Support the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures related to litigation management.
• Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance the legal team's knowledge and skills in litigation practices.
• Engage in proactive communication with various departments to foster a culture of compliance and legal awareness within the organization.
• Contribute to special projects and initiatives as assigned, leveraging legal expertise to support Waymo's broader goals.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Law, Political Science, or a related field; a Juris Doctor (JD) is preferred but not mandatory.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in a legal role, with a focus on litigation or legal support functions.
• Strong understanding of litigation processes, including discovery, trial preparation, and post-trial motions.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly and concisely.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
• Proficiency in legal research tools and software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience working collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with technology law, intellectual property, or regulatory compliance issues related to autonomous vehicles.
• Previous experience working in-house for a technology company or a law firm specializing in litigation.
• Knowledge of e-discovery tools and practices, including data management and document review processes.
• Membership in a state bar association or eligibility to take the bar exam in California.
