About the role

As an FP&A Analyst specializing in Cost Management at Waymo, you will play a role in shaping the financial strategies that support our mission of making transportation safer and more accessible through autonomous driving technology. What you'll do

Conduct in-depth financial analyses to assess cost structures and identify areas for improvement within the organization.
Prepare detailed financial reports that provide insights into cost trends and variances, enabling informed decision-making by management.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop budgets and forecasts, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals.
Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to cost management, providing actionable recommendations to enhance financial performance.
Assist in the development of cost allocation methodologies to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of expenses across various departments.
Participate in monthly and quarterly financial close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of financial results.
Support the implementation of financial systems and tools that enhance data accuracy and reporting efficiency.
Engage in ad-hoc financial modeling and scenario analysis to evaluate the financial impact of potential business initiatives and projects.
Present findings and recommendations to senior management, fostering a data-driven culture within the organization.
Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in financial planning and analysis, applying this knowledge to improve internal processes.
Assist in the preparation of presentations for stakeholders, summarizing financial data and insights in a clear and concise manner.
Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and collaboration on financial matters.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in financial planning and analysis, with a focus on cost management.
Proficiency in financial modeling and analysis, with a strong understanding of budgeting and forecasting processes.
Experience with financial software and tools, such as Excel, ERP systems, and business intelligence platforms.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and translate it into actionable insights.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
Detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

An MBA or relevant professional certification (e.g., CFA, CPA) is preferred.
Familiarity with the automotive or technology sectors, particularly in relation to cost management practices.
Experience with data visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI, to present financial data effectively.
Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP and IFRS.
Previous experience in a high-growth or startup environment, demonstrating adaptability and innovative thinking.
