Sustainability data advisor

About the role

You will advise sustainability teams at many of the world's top companies on how to measure actionable carbon and non-carbon footprints to reach sustainability goals. You will deliver services that accelerate customer success, helping customers set up their measurements to meet sustainability goals and serving as a trusted partner in emissions verifications. You will collaborate with science, engineering, and product teams to pioneer innovative measurement solutions and expand Watershed's sustainability intelligence layer. You will ensure customers unlock maximum value from Watershed's platform faster and more effectively than they could on their own. You will provide specialized advisory to optimize their data and methodologies for both carbon and non-carbon impacts. You will lead measurement sessions and deliver advisory services that unlock the full value of the platform. You will enable customers to gain clear, reliable insights into their sustainability impact and achieve their sustainability goals. You will work directly with customers as a trusted advisor in emissions verifications and methodology comparisons between footprints.

• Translate complex sustainability data into clear narratives for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Support the expansion of Watershed's platform capabilities through feedback and collaboration with product teams.
• Identify opportunities to streamline measurement processes and improve customer outcomes using data-driven insights.
• Represent Watershed in customer meetings, demonstrating deep expertise in sustainability metrics and advisory best practices.
• Guide customers through scoping new measurements and evaluating methodology options to suit their specific needs.
• Contribute to the development of internal frameworks that enhance the delivery of advisory services and measurement accuracy.

Requirements

• Have 5-6 years of experience in a consulting, solutions-engineering, or other customer-facing role.
• Be excited to work directly with customers to help them set the foundation for world-class sustainability programs.
• Have experience in sustainability-related fields, greenhouse gas accounting and/or ESG reporting.
• Be an excellent verbal and written communicator.
• Communicate complex topics to technical and non-technical audiences with clarity and precision.
• Learn quickly and operate well in ambiguity while remaining organized, systematic, and efficient.
• Thrive in a high-volume environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Think clearly about complex problems and be comfortable using and speaking to data.
• Be meticulous and detail-obsessed in all aspects of measurement and advisory work.
• Be passionate about solving climate change and excited to contribute to doing so at a fast-paced startup.
• Must be willing to work from an office 4 days per week (except for remote roles).
