Software Engineer, Product
Job description
About the role
This position is responsible for building the features that establish Warp as an indispensable AI-native Employee Management Platform. The hire will partner closely with product and design to deliver functionality across the HRIS, payroll, benefits, IT, and Warp AI agents modules. You will own complete features from initial concept through implementation, ensuring polished frontends and reliable backend services work in harmony. A core part of the role involves capturing customer pain points and translating them into executable product specs. You will work within small, agile teams that value rapid iteration, code review, and continuous performance improvement. Clear communication is treated with the same weight as technical expertise in this environment. Expect to spend dedicated time each week on planning, debugging, and code review to ensure high-quality outcomes.

Typical interview steps
Hiring for engineering roles usually starts with a recruiter screen, followed by one or two technical rounds. Candidates often solve a coding problem, discuss past projects, and answer system design questions. Some loops include a take-home task. Final rounds typically cover team fit and give candidates a chance to ask questions. Interviewers look for how you break down an unfamiliar problem, not just whether you reach the answer. Practicing a few problems aloud and reviewing your own past projects are the best preparation.
Good to know
AI-native employee management platforms rely on tight integration between backend services and user workflows.
Modern strongly typed languages help enforce correctness across complex payroll and compliance logic.
Full-stack ownership reduces handoffs and accelerates feature delivery in fast-growing companies.
Close collaboration with executives shapes product direction at early-stage, high-growth organizations.
Daily catered lunches and quarterly offsites support team focus and cohesion.
Questions to ask
Useful questions for the interview: what a typical week looks like, how work is assigned, what tools the team uses, and how feedback works. Asking how the role has changed recently and what the team wishes it had known when joining is also reasonable. Questions about the manager's priorities are especially valued.
Career growth
Engineering careers usually progress from individual contributor to senior, staff, and principal levels. Some engineers move into management and lead teams of five to twenty people. Others stay on the technical track. Growth follows demonstrated impact, not tenure alone. A typical engineering ladder has clear levels with defined expectations for scope, quality, and mentorship. Moving up usually requires owning outcomes end to end rather than completing assigned tickets.
