What you'll do
- Design and implement Building Automation Systems that optimize energy efficiency and improve occupant comfort in various facilities.
- Collaborate with project managers and other engineers to define project requirements and develop detailed specifications for BAS installations.
- Conduct site assessments to evaluate existing systems and identify opportunities for upgrades or enhancements.
- Program and configure BAS software to ensure seamless integration with HVAC, lighting, and security systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to BAS hardware and software, providing timely solutions to minimize downtime.
- Perform system testing and validation to ensure all components function as intended and meet performance benchmarks.
- Provide training and support to clients and end-users on BAS operation and maintenance, fostering a thorough understanding of the systems.
- Prepare documentation, including system design drawings, operation manuals, and maintenance guides, to support ongoing system management.
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements in building automation technology, recommending improvements where applicable.
- Work closely with vendors and suppliers to source equipment and materials necessary for BAS projects, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Participate in project meetings and provide updates on progress, challenges, and solutions to stakeholders.
- Assist in the development of project budgets and timelines, ensuring adherence to financial and scheduling constraints.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in building automation, controls engineering, or a similar role.
- Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in BAS, such as BACnet, Modbus, or LonWorks.
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems and their integration with building automation technologies.
- Experience with system design software and tools, such as AutoCAD or Revit, for creating detailed schematics and layouts.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with energy management principles and sustainability practices in building operations.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to various job sites as needed.
- Certification in relevant BAS technologies or systems is a plus.
Nice to have
- Experience with cloud-based building management systems and IoT integration.
- Knowledge of energy auditing and building performance analysis.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards related to building automation and energy efficiency.
- Previous experience in project management or leading small teams.
