Wadetrim is seeking a Structural Engineer to join the Water Team in Detroit, Michigan. This role focuses on analysis and design that ensure infrastructure projects remain stable, compliant, and well coordinated. You will be responsible for leading complex structural assessments that directly support the integrity and resilience of water related infrastructure. Compensation

The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $95,000 annually. This role also qualifies for our comprehensive benefits package and performance based incentives.

What you'll do

• Execute detailed structural analysis and develop rigorous calculations to support the design of water infrastructure systems.
• Create construction documents, structural models, and detailed drawings that communicate design intent clearly to multidisciplinary audiences.
• Assess existing site conditions and interpret applicable codes, standards, and regulations to verify that all designs meet safety and compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with project managers, field teams, and external consultants to define project scope, align deliverables, and maintain realistic schedules and budgets.
• Draft precise technical documents that provide field personnel with clear, unambiguous instructions for construction and installation activities.
• Conduct thorough reviews of calculations, reports, and drawings to confirm accuracy before materials are procured or installed on site.
• Organize and maintain project records, including decisions, assumptions, and design changes, to ensure that project history remains traceable and accessible for future reference.
• Mentor junior engineers by guiding them through engineering checks, procedures, and workflows that protect quality, accuracy, and continuity.
• Support the development and implementation of best in class structural engineering practices specific to water infrastructure applications.
• Participate in internal reviews and knowledge sharing sessions to elevate the technical capability of the team.
• Ensure that all deliverables are completed in a timely manner without compromising the quality or safety of the work.
• Contribute to the identification of potential risks and the development of mitigation strategies throughout the project lifecycle.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities and stakeholders to address inquiries and secure necessary approvals for project progression.
• Apply innovative approaches to optimize structural performance while adhering to budget constraints and project objectives.

Requirements

• Hold an active professional engineering license in at least one jurisdiction.
• Possess a degree in civil or environmental engineering from an accredited institution.
• Bring a minimum of seven years of relevant experience in structural analysis and design.
• Ensure that your experience includes work related to water infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with teams and stakeholders.
• Exhibit self direction and the ability to manage multiple tasks while adhering to firm deadlines.
• Maintain excellent organizational skills to track project details and prevent critical items from being overlooked.
• Show a consistent commitment to following established engineering procedures and quality control measures.
• Be capable of working independently and as part of a collaborative team in a professional environment.

After a 30 day introductory period, this role offers a flexible hybrid remote work schedule. This arrangement allows you to divide time between the Detroit office and remote locations, subject to team needs and approval.
