The position reports to the VP of Product Design and is part of the Electrical Engineering team based in San Diego, CA. This role is 100% onsite. What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for the design of critical electronic components that enable Voyager's mission capabilities. The essential functions of this position include:

• Deriving and documenting circuit board requirements from system and top-level requirements to ensure design alignment with mission objectives
• Creating schematic drawings and functional/design specifications for complex high-speed Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs) that meet stringent performance criteria
• Performing layout and/or guiding the layout of printed complex Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) to optimize performance and manufacturability
• Assisting with manufacturing of complex PCBAs when needed to ensure design integrity and production readiness
• Collaborating on signal integrity, mechanical, and power considerations during board design and testing phases
• Developing comprehensive printed circuit board assembly test plans and procedures to assure that performance meets exacting specifications
• Validating designs through thorough troubleshooting and testing of complex circuit boards
• Meeting aggressive/accelerated schedule deadlines while maintaining quality standards
• Supporting internal and external design and development gate reviews with complete documentation
• Participating in proposals and trade studies, including evaluating contractor and subcontractor proposals for technical feasibility and mission alignment

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and capabilities:

• Holding a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Design, or a related discipline from an accredited institution
• Bringing 7+ years of professional experience designing high-speed printed circuit boards for demanding applications
• Demonstrating a solid understanding of digital logic, signal integrity principles, power circuitry, and high-speed PCB design and simulation techniques
• Having hands-on experience with FPGAs/PLDs, Ethernet PHYs, High-speed Memories, PLLs, voltage regulators, and switching regulators
• Possessing knowledge of computer and system architecture fundamentals
• Having practical experience with board simulations and working knowledge of processor, DSP and associated interfaces
• Showing evidence of experience in taking projects from bring-up through production ramp
• Having experience in creating and reviewing validation/diagnostic test plans
• Having hands-on experience with developing tests and debugging in laboratory environments
• Being able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance, which is essential for working on defense and national security projects

Preferred Qualifications

• Five years of experience in Analog and Power design and implementation
• Demonstrated ability to perform layout of printed circuit boards to the component level

Practical Notes

This position requires 100% onsite presence at our San Diego, CA facility. As a Voyager Technologies employee, you will enjoy a comprehensive compensation package that recognizes the specialized nature of this role. The good faith base salary range for this position is $165,000-$190,000 at the time of this posting, with final compensation determined by experience, skills, and location considerations. This range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or bonus/incentive components.
