About the role
The is a pivotal leadership position responsible for the conception and technical birth of a new puzzle game from prototype through global launch. You will partner directly with the General Manager to architect, recruit, and build a high-performing, cohesive technical team from the ground up. This role owns the end-to-end technical vision, defining the foundational architecture required to transform a creative concept into a scalable, high-quality product. You will establish the critical technical infrastructure, including the bespoke switcher engine and a dedicated level editor, while simultaneously planning for future live operations. A core part of this position involves crafting the engineering culture, defining the technical practices and rituals that drive the team's efficiency and innovation. You will also define and execute the long-term technical strategy, ensuring the studio and its creations can scale efficiently as they grow. Hands-on contribution remains vital, as you will engage in coding to build features and iterate rapidly based on player feedback and market testing. Ultimately, you will monitor the product's health, guiding the team to uphold quality and resolve issues promptly while helping to manage the studio's broader strategy and people operations.

What you'll do
- Partner with the General Manager to structure, recruit, and onboard the technical team for the new puzzle game.
- Define and establish the technical foundations for a new puzzle game, addressing all aspects from prototype to worldwide launch.
- Create the switcher engine architecture and implement the core tools needed for efficient development.
- Design and develop a robust level editor to empower designers and streamline the content creation workflow.
- Develop and implement ways of working for the engineering craft, including technical practices, team rituals, and collaboration processes.
- Define and execute the long-term technical strategy for the studio, ensuring scalability for both the team and the game.
- Work closely with product leadership on roadmap planning, rollouts, and adoption strategies for the new game.
- Engage in hands-on coding to build new features and iterate rapidly based on player feedback and market testing.
- Monitor the health of the product, guiding the technical team to continuously enhance product quality and address issues promptly.
- Help the General Manager and other Leads manage the studio, contributing to its strategy, operations, and people management.
- Foster a culture of innovation and creativity within the engineering team to drive the creation of a new hit.
- Ensure all technical solutions align with the overall product vision and studio strategy for long-term success.
- Leverage backend development expertise to build client-server interactions that are reliable and performant.
- Act as a technical mentor, elevating the skills of the engineering team through guidance and best practices.
Requirements
- Possess years of experience as a Technical Director or Technical Lead on casual games.
- Have at least 5+ years of professional experience with Unity, demonstrating deep technical knowledge.
- Maintain a successful track record in top-tier mobile casual games, with experience in both new and live game development.
- Have concrete experience in creating, growing, and leading engineering teams of various sizes.
- Exhibit a creative and innovative mindset with strong problem-solving skills to overcome complex technical challenges.
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clarity and alignment.
- Be comfortable switching from management work to hands-on coding as the project demands.
- Bring experience with backend development or client-server interactions to ensure robust system architecture.
- Show extreme passion for casual games and a relentless drive to create a new hit that resonates globally.
- Cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset, enthusiastically building new things from the ground up with ownership and initiative.
