About the Role
The Consultant
Nitro Services position at Veeva Systems represents a mission-driven opportunity to shape the future of life sciences data. As a pioneer in industry cloud computing, Veeva enables life sciences organizations to deliver therapies to patients with unprecedented speed. This role is designed for a seasoned professional who will leverage deep data warehousing and consulting expertise to guide customers through the entire Veeva Nitro lifecycle. You will act as a trusted advisor, translating complex data strategies into actionable plans that drive tangible business outcomes. Success in this role requires a unique blend of technical mastery, consultative selling, and a passion for operational excellence within a regulated environment. This is a remote, full-time, permanent role that embodies the "Work Anywhere" philosophy.
What You'll Do
The core function of this role is to own the end-to-end success of client engagements with Veeva Nitro, the life sciences-specific commercial data warehouse. You will be responsible for translating customer requirements into structured solution designs during the discovery and scoping phases. A primary duty involves configuring and customizing data models, pipelines, and visualizations to ensure alignment with specific commercial workflows and regulatory expectations. You will lead implementation projects, defining clear timelines, milestones, and deliverables in collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders.
A significant portion of the role involves hands-on technical execution, including conducting testing and validation of data pipelines to guarantee accuracy, performance, and consistency. Post-go-live, you will transition into a managed services capacity, providing ongoing operational support and resolving issues to optimize system performance. You will also play a critical role in data migration, ensuring integrity, traceability, and adherence to life sciences standards. Establishing best practices for data governance, dashboard adoption, and data literacy within client organizations is essential.
The position demands close collaboration with product and engineering teams to funnel customer feedback into product enhancements. You will serve as a key liaison during contract reviews, renewal discussions, and strategic planning sessions, using your expertise to build compelling narratives and proof points. Mentoring junior team members on implementation techniques and client communication is also a core responsibility, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must possess a bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant analytical or technical field. A minimum of five years of professional experience in data warehousing, business intelligence, or a closely related discipline is mandatory. Candidates must demonstrate advanced proficiency in SQL, capable of writing complex queries, optimizing performance, and troubleshooting intricate data issues.
You are required to have hands-on experience with major cloud data platforms, such as Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery. Expertise in building and maintaining ETL or ELT processes using tools like dbt is essential. A strong understanding of data modeling principles, particularly dimensional modeling, must be demonstrated through practical application. You must be adept at working with semi-structured data formats like JSON and integrating diverse data sources.
Prior consulting experience is a strict requirement, as the role involves working directly with customers to analyze problems and co-create solutions. You must have a proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, matrixed environments while managing multiple priorities and deadlines. Exceptional communication skills are necessary to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship, as the company cannot provide sponsorship for this role. A willingness to travel occasionally, as dictated by project scope and regional needs, is required. You must also be prepared to adhere to industry regulations, data governance standards, and compliance requirements inherent to the life sciences sector.
