About the role
Vacancies is currently seeking a Middle DevOps Engineer to become part of their growing team based in Kyiv. This full-time role centers on building, maintaining, and improving the infrastructure that supports the company's software products and services. The engineer will work hand in hand with development teams to design reliable automation for building, testing, and releasing software. A key part of the position involves ensuring that production systems remain stable, performant, and secure while the company scales its operations.

What you'll do
- Manage and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes across multiple environments reliably.
- Monitor system performance and respond to incidents promptly, ensuring high availability and uptime of production services.
- Collaborate closely with software developers to design and implement infrastructure as code solutions for cloud deployments.
- Configure and optimize container orchestration platforms to support application deployment, scaling, and management at scale.
- Write and maintain comprehensive documentation for infrastructure configurations, operational runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
- Participate in on-call rotations and provide timely, effective resolution of production issues as they arise.
- Conduct capacity planning and resource allocation analyses to meet growing user demand and business requirements.
- Implement security best practices across all infrastructure components, deployment workflows, and access control policies.
- Automate repetitive operational tasks by using scripting and configuration management tools to reduce manual effort.
- Review infrastructure changes carefully and provide constructive feedback to team members during code and design reviews.
- Support the migration and modernization of legacy systems toward cloud-native architectures and modern patterns.
- Troubleshoot networking, storage, and compute issues methodically to diagnose root causes and prevent recurrence.
- Evaluate new tools and technologies that can improve deployment speed, system reliability, and operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in a DevOps or systems engineering role within a professional software development environment.
- Strong understanding of Linux operating systems, including system administration, configuration, and troubleshooting of services.
- Familiarity with version control systems and collaborative software development workflows used in modern engineering teams.
- Ability to write scripts in at least one programming or scripting language to automate operational tasks.
- Hands-on experience with containerization technologies and their orchestration in production or staging environments.
- Solid grasp of networking fundamentals, including protocols, firewalls, load balancing, and DNS resolution.
- Good understanding of CI/CD principles and automated testing practices for continuous software delivery.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities and shifting requirements.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail when diagnosing issues in complex distributed systems.
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with cross-functional teams and presenting technical findings clearly.
- Experience with infrastructure monitoring tools and the ability to interpret metrics and logs for proactive issue detection.
Nice to have
- Experience with major cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform is a strong advantage.
- Knowledge of infrastructure monitoring and observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or similar platforms is valued.
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent configuration management solutions.
- Exposure to Kubernetes or similar container orchestration platforms in a production or near-production environment.
