Technical Ops - APM
Job description
Technical Ops - APM at Unlimit.
About the role
You will architect and own the diagnostic pathways that translate ambiguous APM failure signals into actionable engineering insights. You will act as the primary resolver for the most intricate payment integration issues across the global APM portfolio. You will leverage intelligent monitoring and automation to shift from reactive firefighting to proactive reliability engineering. You will serve as the definitive technical authority for both internal product teams and external payment partners regarding Alternative Payment Method behavior. You will drive the evolution of incident response by implementing AI-assisted workflows that accelerate root-cause identification. You will ensure that every change to payment handlers is executed with precision and includes validated rollback strategies. You will represent Unlimit in external partnerships to align on standards and expectations for high-volume transaction processing.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Architect intake pathways that classify APM incident signals and route them to optimal diagnostic views.
- Construct and refine monitoring rules and alert thresholds to detect APM behavior shifts before they escalate.
- Conduct layered investigations that correlate transaction traces with gateway responses and system configuration states.
- Coordinate remediation steps with product and engineering squads to secure the integrity of critical payment paths.
- Oversee change implementation for APM handlers ensuring that every deployment includes tested rollback plans and observability checks.
- Forge alignment with external banking and payment partners to clarify responsibilities and expectations during complex outage scenarios.
- Champion reliability experiments that validate new instrumentation for APM failure patterns and detection capabilities.
- Maintain living documentation that maps workflows, dependencies, and runbooks for all supported APMs to support consistent operations.
- Translate complex technical findings into clear narratives for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Optimize operational playbooks to reduce mean time to resolution for APM-related incidents.
- Implement structured post-incident reviews that extract learnings and drive preventive improvements.
- Evaluate emerging monitoring techniques and integrate appropriate tools into the APM observability stack.
- Collaborate with product teams to define success metrics for new APM integrations throughout their lifecycle.
- Ensure all operational procedures comply with internal governance standards and external regulatory requirements.
Requirements
You must manage APM portfolios and explain failures to both technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively.
You must possess 3 to 5 years of experience with high-volume transaction systems and structured incident management practices.
You must demonstrate familiarity with intelligent monitoring approaches and AI-assisted operational tooling to support evolving infrastructure.
You must have a strong understanding of payment processing concepts, Alternative Payment Methods, and the fintech ecosystem.
You must be proficient in analyzing logs, metrics, and traces to identify root causes of integration failures.
You must have experience working with APIs and integrations within a financial services context.
You must be able to work autonomously while maintaining strict ownership of reliability outcomes.
