Agentic Systems Engineer
Job description
About the role
You architect the agentic backend that enables AI services to design, run, and adapt financial workflows autonomously within the Unlimit ecosystem. This role owns the logic where agents write, verify, and modify code to handle global transactions safely and at scale. You operate at the frontier where human oversight meets autonomous system evolution, shaping the future of Human and AI co-creation. You will not just write backend services; you will design AI agents that generate, operate, validate, monitor, and evolve backend services continuously. In this capacity, you drive the transformation of payments infrastructure from human-operated fintech into an AI-native financial fabric. You ensure that the next users of our platform are not only humans but also AI agents acting on behalf of businesses worldwide. You translate partner constraints and market complexity into robust agent behaviors that power a borderless global economy.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Draft ingestion rules that normalize transaction streams and external signals for agent reasoning across financial contexts.
- Architect service skeletons where agents generate, parameterize, and spin up new financial micro modules on demand.
- Implement validation suites that agents execute to confirm behavior correctness before any production exposure.
- Orchestrate release sequences so agents promote changes through staging environments with built-in rollback awareness.
- Coordinate with external teams, feeding partner constraints and requirements back into agent planning cycles iteratively.
- Tune monitoring dashboards and observability signals, helping agents self adjust when market patterns shift unexpectedly.
- Refactor legacy connectors and adapters, enabling agents to reuse components across currency flows and compliance requirements.
- Guide partner integrations by ensuring API contracts remain clear, stable, and easily consumable by automated agents.
- Hold 3-5 years of experience solving complex backend problems with Java or Kotlin in production environments.
- Understand how agents break tasks into discrete steps and manage state across distributed services reliably.
- Bring experience with financial infrastructure, crypto flows, or payment rails to provide necessary domain context.
- Write tests that verify agent outputs rigorously and guard against unsafe financial actions or regressions.
- Demonstrate the ability to design systems where agents can autonomously write, validate, and evolve service logic.
- Show commitment to operating at the intersection of software engineering and autonomous system behavior.
- Possess strong problem-solving skills to handle edge cases in global transaction processing and compliance scenarios.
- Communicate effectively to collaborate with cross-functional teams and integrate partner constraints into agent workflows.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with autonomous agent frameworks and self modifying code patterns is helpful for accelerating development.

The role is embedded within a global fintech ecosystem that eliminates financial borders for businesses, providing the infrastructure needed to scale across regions with confidence. As an Agentic Systems Engineer, you will contribute to building the nervous system for a borderless global economy powered by intelligent automation. Your work will directly influence how APIs are consumed by machines and how integrations are negotiated by autonomous agents in production. This position represents a unique opportunity to operate at the forefront of AI-driven financial infrastructure while maintaining rigorous standards for safety and compliance. The successful candidate will partner closely with cross-functional teams to refine agent behaviors, tune observability, and ensure that releases through staging and production are executed with rollback awareness. You will play a key role in refactoring legacy connectors so that agents can reuse components across diverse currency and compliance flows. Continuous evolution of the platform will depend on your ability to design ingestion rules that normalize external signals and transaction streams for effective agent reasoning. This is a high impact role for engineers who believe in the future of Human and AI co-creation, and soon, AI-to-AI collaboration within financial systems.
