What you'll do
- Collaborate with senior engineers to design and develop electrical distribution systems that meet regulatory standards and customer needs.
- Conduct field surveys and site assessments to gather data necessary for the design of distribution projects.
- computer-aided design (CAD) software to create detailed drawings and schematics for electrical distribution systems.
- Prepare and review project specifications, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
- Assist in the preparation of cost estimates and project budgets for distribution projects.
- Coordinate with various stakeholders, including contractors, utility personnel, and local government officials, to ensure project alignment and success.
- Participate in the analysis of existing distribution systems to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
- Support the project management team in tracking project timelines and deliverables, ensuring projects are completed on schedule.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and training to enhance technical skills and knowledge in electrical distribution design.
- Contribute to the development of technical reports and documentation for projects, ensuring clear communication of design concepts and project status.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving design-related issues that may arise during project execution.
- Participate in safety meetings and adhere to safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment for all team members.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required.
- A strong understanding of electrical distribution systems and design principles is preferred.
- Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD or similar design tools, is essential.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to electrical distribution is a plus.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make informed decisions.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and a proactive approach to tasks.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies in the field of electrical engineering.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to travel to project sites as needed.
- Previous internship or co-op experience in electrical engineering or a related field is advantageous.
