About the role
The Self-Driving Systems Specialist (SDS Specialist) owns the end to end readiness of self-driving systems within the European fleet of autonomous vehicles and Robotaxi operations. This role owns the full diagnostic lifecycle, from initial failure analysis through root cause identification to final calibration verification and sign off. You own the configuration integrity of the autonomous driving stack, ensuring software configurations, sensor alignments, and compute settings remain within validated operational bounds. The SDS Specialist is the primary technical owner for Autonomous Driving Hardware health, performing detailed system diagnostics and ensuring all hardware components are fully functional and safely operational. You will define and drive calibration procedures for sensors and compute systems, maintaining the highest standards of technical readiness for safe deployment. This position requires you to support technical validation activities, translating operational requirements into test procedures that prove system readiness in real world scenarios. You will act as the critical bridge between engineering, depot operations, and safety teams to resolve complex technical issues efficiently. By working directly with Fleet Operations, you ensure that autonomous ride hailing services can proceed without technical interruption, maximizing vehicle availability and operational reliability.

What you'll do
Perform deep diagnostic investigations on self-driving systems, analyzing logs, sensor outputs, and system health metrics to identify anomalies and failures.
Execute calibration procedures for autonomous vehicle sensors and compute units, ensuring precise alignment and optimal performance across the entire sensor suite.
Configure autonomous driving hardware and software parameters within strict operational limits to maintain system integrity and safety compliance.
Conduct technical validation of repaired or modified autonomous systems, running defined test scenarios to confirm correct functionality before fleet release.
Collaborate with Depot Specialists to streamline repair workflows, standardize troubleshooting guides, and reduce vehicle downtime at service locations.
Support AV Operations Leads in the rollout of new software configurations, providing on site technical assistance and immediate issue resolution during deployment.
Monitor the long term technical readiness of the autonomous vehicle fleet, tracking recurring issues and escalating trends to Engineering and Safety Teams.
Perform hands on troubleshooting of complex electronic and mechanical interfaces within the autonomous driving hardware ecosystem.
Lead safety critical validations, documenting every step of the diagnostic and calibration process to satisfy regulatory and operational requirements.
Partner with Senior Technicians to elevate the overall technical capability of the team, sharing knowledge and best practices for autonomous system maintenance.
Implement structured troubleshooting methodologies for self-driving systems, ensuring every investigation follows a logical and repeatable process.
Coordinate with Safety Operators to ensure all diagnostic activities and validation tests adhere to strict safety protocols and compliance standards.
Translate technical issues into clear reports for cross functional teams, enabling efficient decision making and timely resolution of systemic problems.
Drive continuous improvement in technical processes, proposing updates to procedures that enhance diagnostic accuracy and calibration efficiency.
Requirements
Candidates must possess a strong background in Automotive Electronics, with a proven ability to understand, diagnose, and repair complex electronic systems in automotive environments.
You must have hands on experience with ADAS Systems, including advanced driver assistance features and the underlying sensor and control mechanisms.
A solid foundation in Embedded Systems is required, including familiarity with real time constraints, firmware interfaces, and hardware software integration.
Practical Robotics experience is essential, particularly in the context of sensor fusion, perception algorithms, and automated navigation in dynamic environments.
Direct experience with Diagnostics and Calibration procedures in automotive or robotics settings is mandatory for this role.
You must have a demonstrated history of working with Autonomous Driving Hardware, including compute platforms, sensors, and actuation systems.
Exceptional technical validation skills are required, with the ability to design test procedures, execute them rigorously, and interpret results objectively.
Strong communication skills are necessary to collaborate effectively with Senior Technicians, Engineering, Safety, and Operations teams across multiple locations.
Candidates must be comfortable working within a structured framework, following detailed procedures while also applying creative problem solving to unique technical challenges.
You must be willing to work primarily from the Furttal location, ensuring close proximity to the operational teams and facilities you will support.
A methodical approach to documentation and reporting is essential, as your work will directly influence safety assessments and operational decisions.
You should be comfortable managing multiple technical priorities in a fast moving autonomous vehicle environment, maintaining accuracy under pressure.

Nice to have
Experience with Robotaxi fleets and commercial autonomous ride hailing operations is highly valued.
Knowledge of specific compute platforms and sensor suites used in level 4 autonomous vehicles is preferred.
Familiarity with regulatory frameworks governing autonomous vehicle testing and deployment in European markets is an advantage.
Background in data recording, analysis, and interpretation for autonomous system improvements is desirable.
Experience supporting night shift operations or handling after hours critical system failures is beneficial.
Skills in scripting or automation to support diagnostic and calibration tasks will be considered a strong advantage.
Practical notes
This is a contract based full time position based from the Furttal location.
Hours will be aligned with operational needs, including potential shift work and on call responsibilities during critical validation and deployment windows.
Travel is generally not required for this role, as all essential functions are performed at the designated work location.
