About the role

You will serve as the primary on ground data acquisition specialist for our operations in Messei, ensuring that every capture meets the strict standards defined by our methodology. This role places you at the forefront of our mission to build an exhaustive visual record of the European Union through systematic street level documentation. You will be entrusted with operating advanced sensor suites mounted on specialized vehicles to gather three hundred and sixty degree imagery with centimeter level accuracy. Every journey you undertake will directly feed the analytical processes that power one of the world's most widely used digital map products. You are expected to exercise sound judgment when assessing environmental conditions and to adapt your routing in real time to preserve data integrity. The position demands a high level of personal discipline as you manage self directed work periods across multiple consecutive days in the field. Successful execution of your duties will contribute to a comprehensive dataset used for urban planning, infrastructure analysis, and geographic research. You will collaborate closely with remote coordination teams to report road hazards, logistical challenges, and emergent constraints that may impact the schedule.

What you'll do

Execute predefined street level routes while capturing high resolution imagery, ensuring complete coverage of all assigned segments and intersections.

Conduct systematic scans of points of interest using specialized equipment, documenting storefronts, signage, landmarks, and public infrastructure in granular detail.

Operate portable lidar units and roof mounted camera arrays to generate comprehensive three dimensional models of the urban environment during each pass.

Record clear and intelligible voice notes to annotate observations, clarify ambiguous scenes, and provide contextual information that cannot be captured visually.

Monitor onboard storage systems and manage the transfer of data captured onto secure solid state drives, maintaining rigorous file integrity checks.

Adapt driving patterns and schedules to accommodate shifting weather patterns, prioritizing opportunities to revisit areas when conditions allow for optimal image clarity.

Maintain detailed logs of mileage, timestamps, and route deviations, providing transparent accounts of daily activities for internal auditing purposes.

Coordinate with local teams and follow precise instructions to ensure alignment with regional regulatory requirements and project specific guidelines.

Identify and report any road hazards, construction zones, or access issues that could affect the safety of operations or the continuity of data collection.

Support the calibration and validation processes for mapping algorithms by supplying consistent, high quality inputs that meet technical specifications.

Requirements

You must hold a valid driver's license appropriate for the vehicle category assigned to this role in the French territory.

You must possess a clean driving record with no major violations or suspensions within the last three years of professional driving history.

You must be legally authorized to work within the European Union or hold the necessary visa or residency status to accept employment in France.

You must demonstrate the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in French, as this is the primary language used for operational briefings and reporting.

You must be able to pass a formal security screening process, including background checks, to ensure suitability for handling sensitive location data.

You must have a stable internet connection and a suitable device to synchronize captured data with our central management systems on a nightly basis.

You must be comfortable working extended shifts during standard business hours, including occasional adjustments to start and end times based on project needs.

You must be physically capable of loading and unloading equipment from the vehicle, lifting storage media, and performing basic maintenance checks without assistance.

Experience with similar data collection projects, particularly those involving lidar or panoramic imaging systems.

Practical notes

The engagement is a full time contract position with hours aligned to normal business operations, specifically from 08 h 00 to 19 h 00.

Travel to the designated work area in Messei will be required, and candidates should plan for standard commuting considerations within the region.

This position is contingent upon successful completion of a secure driving test, a formal interview, and a structured onboarding program.

Candidates must respect strict confidentiality agreements regarding the visual and geospatial data they handle during the course of their assignment.
