Sr Product Engineer
Job description
About the role
You will partner directly with the founding team and early customers to define and deliver a world-class AI-native legal product that defines the future of immigration services. This role owns the complete lifecycle of critical features, from initial discovery and database architecture to the final user interaction in the browser. You will be responsible for ensuring that every feature you ship is not only functional but also fast, reliable, and transparent for both our clients and our internal legal team. You will act as the primary bridge between complex legal requirements and scalable technical implementation, turning nuanced workflows into intuitive software. The position requires a rare blend of deep backend expertise and frontend fluency to iterate quickly and ship complete user experiences. You will have the autonomy to identify painful workflows and proactively refactor or rebuild them to create significant efficiency gains. Ultimately, your work will directly impact how millions of people navigate the immigration process, making it less stressful and far more accessible.
Key facts
What you'll do

- Translate complex immigration legal processes into intuitive digital experiences that serve both external clients and internal attorneys.
- Leverage modern AI coding tools such as Claude Code and Cursor to prototype, build, and refine features at an accelerated pace.

- Participate in the full application lifecycle, including rigorous debugging, testing, and deployment to ensure a high-quality user experience.
- Act as an internal consultant for the legal team, observing their workflows and identifying opportunities for automation and simplification.
- Take responsibility for the performance and reliability of backend services and the responsiveness of frontend interfaces.
- Challenge existing assumptions about backend and frontend separation by building complete features independently.
- Contribute to a culture of ownership where complaining about problems is replaced by the immediate action of fixing them.
- Continuously improve the codebase around every feature you ship, refactoring messy modules and adding missing tests.
- Partner with designers to ensure that the implemented user experience matches the intended design and serves the user's needs.

- You thrive in an environment where processes are still being invented and codebases have rough edges.
