Facility Specialist

About the role

This position builds and manages a permitted waste facility in Orlando. The role reports to the Facility Coordinator and supports compliance, operations, and transportation workflows. You will own the execution of day-to-day activities that ensure the facility remains compliant and operational. This role requires you to translate permit requirements into practical actions on the warehouse floor. You will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of waste streams from intake to final manifest. The work demands meticulous attention to detail in every transaction you process. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams to resolve issues before they impact operations. Written logs and records will capture your decisions for future review and continuous improvement.

What you'll do

You will consolidate waste materials according to the facility permit, disposal facility rules, and specific customer preferences. You will build trailer loads for outbound transportation to ensure waste is prepared correctly for shipment. You will assist with waste determinations and profile management to uphold regulatory accuracy in documentation. You will coordinate outbound loads by setting up delivery appointments and scheduling transportation providers efficiently. You will utilize computerized waste tracking systems to record and manage the movement of all waste on site. You will handle chemicals directly and inspect waste streams to verify quality and ensure ongoing compliance. You will support general facility operations to keep site activities running smoothly on a daily basis. You will clarify facility permit expectations by understanding and applying local agency rules for waste management. You will join the in-house Emergency Response team after completing the required emergency response (ER) training. You will exercise supervisory leadership to guide interactions with coworkers and demonstrate growing responsibility.

Requirements

You must hold a BS/BA in Environmental Science or a Business-related degree, or possess 2+ years of relevant industry experience, or have equivalent Military experience. You must maintain a valid driver's license in good standing as a condition of employment. You must be able to work effectively both within a team setting and independently when required. You must demonstrate strong communication, problem solving, and relationship building abilities in all interactions. You must have a reliable form of personal transportation to perform job duties. You must consent to a Motor Vehicle Record screening, criminal background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screen including THC. You must pass random drug screening including THC as part of the company safety program after employment begins. You must be able to lift 60 pounds on a regular basis and 75 pounds occasionally during routine tasks. You must show willingness to work flexible hours within the Monday through Friday timeframe. You must maintain regular availability for overtime when operational needs require it. You must be eligible to work in the United States without the need for future sponsorship.
