What you'll do

• Perform installation and maintenance of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and company policies.
• Conduct regular inspections of electrical lines and equipment to identify potential issues and implement corrective measures as necessary.
• Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and resolve electrical problems, utilizing diagnostic tools and techniques.
• Assist in the planning and execution of new electrical projects, providing input on design and implementation strategies.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, including service reports and maintenance logs, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Respond to emergency service calls, providing timely and effective solutions to restore power and minimize downtime for clients.
• Operate specialized equipment such as bucket trucks, digger derricks, and other machinery necessary for line work.
• Train and mentor junior line personnel, sharing knowledge and best practices to enhance team performance and safety awareness.
• Ensure that all tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored, adhering to company standards for safety and efficiency.
• Participate in ongoing training and development programs to stay current with industry trends, technologies, and safety practices.
• Communicate effectively with clients, providing updates on project status and addressing any concerns they may have.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited electrical training program is preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical line work, with a proven track record of successful installations and repairs.
• Valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) as required.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, tools, and safety protocols relevant to line work.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and at heights, demonstrating physical stamina and agility.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with team members and clients.
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergency situations as needed.
• Familiarity with local, state, and federal electrical codes and regulations.

Nice to have

• Certification as a Journeyman Lineman or equivalent is a plus.
• Experience with renewable energy systems, such as solar or wind, is advantageous.
• Knowledge of advanced diagnostic tools and software for electrical systems.
• Previous experience in project management or leadership roles within the electrical field.
• Additional certifications in safety training, such as CPR or first aid, are beneficial.

Skills & tools

• Proficient in the use of hand and power tools specific to electrical line work, including voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and cable splicers.
• Familiarity with safety equipment such as personal protective equipment (PPE), fall protection gear, and insulated tools.
• Competence in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic computer skills for documentation and communication purposes.
