What you'll do

• Analyze project specifications and blueprints to prepare detailed cost estimates for electrical installations and services.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineers to gather necessary information for accurate estimating.
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and ensure quality materials are used.
• Prepare and present bid proposals to clients, highlighting the value and benefits of Bamboohr's services.
• Monitor project costs and budgets throughout the lifecycle of the project, providing updates and adjustments as necessary.
• Conduct site visits to assess conditions and gather data that may impact project costs and timelines.
• estimating software and tools to enhance accuracy and efficiency in the estimating process.
• Stay updated on industry trends, codes, and regulations to ensure compliance and competitiveness in bids.
• Participate in project meetings to discuss estimates, timelines, and any potential challenges with stakeholders.
• Assist in the training and mentoring of junior estimators and interns, sharing best practices and insights.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of estimating processes and methodologies within the company.
• Prepare reports and documentation for management review, ensuring transparency and accountability in the estimating process.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical estimating or a similar role within the construction industry.
• Proficiency in estimating software and tools, such as Accubid or similar platforms.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, codes, and standards.
• Excellent analytical and mathematical skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey complex information clearly.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Familiarity with project management principles and practices is a plus.

Nice to have

• Certification as a Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or similar credential.
• Experience with renewable energy projects or sustainable building practices.
• Knowledge of local and national electrical codes and regulations.
• Previous experience working with commercial and industrial electrical projects.
• Bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish, can be an asset in client interactions.

Skills & tools

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• Familiarity with project management software such as MS Project or Primavera.
• Strong problem-solving skills to address challenges that arise during the estimating process.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.
• Knowledge of cost control measures and financial management principles.
