Trainline is seeking an experienced treasury leader to manage and modernise its finance operations during a period of significant transition. This interim role involves overseeing daily liquidity and cash management while driving a strategic overhaul of banking automation and internal governance frameworks. What you'll do
- Oversee the complete treasury operation, maintaining rigorous oversight of liquidity monitoring, cash positioning, FX trading, RCF drawdowns, and intercompany payments.
- Architect and deploy a robust 13-week cashflow forecasting model to enhance decision-making capabilities and provide precise RCF recommendations to stakeholders.
- Lead the execution of a comprehensive banking automation initiative, managing the integration of D365 and the implementation of a next-generation cash management platform.
- Formalise the treasury control environment by designing and maintaining a detailed delegation of authority framework and managing the centralised treasury controls register.
- Develop and implement a cohesive set of treasury policies that specifically address FX hedging strategies, counterparty risk assessment, and stringent payment governance protocols.
- Spearhead the redesign of the treasury operating model, which includes the clear definition of RACI matrices and the strategic transition of specific tasks into the Operational Finance function.
- Produce comprehensive documentation for all end-to-end treasury processes to guarantee audit readiness and effectively mitigate key-person dependency risks.
- Lead the recruitment, mentoring, and professional development of a Treasury Analyst, while clearly defining the future structure and career path for the team.
- Establish strong governance frameworks to ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policy standards.
- Collaborate closely with external banking partners to optimise relationships and secure favourable terms for the business.
- Analyse historical treasury performance data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the treasury function and senior executive leadership, ensuring alignment on financial objectives.
- Implement best practices in financial management to enhance the accuracy and reliability of all treasury reporting.
- Drive the adoption of new technologies and methodologies to future-proof the treasury operations against emerging market challenges.
Requirements
- Possess proven experience leading a corporate treasury function at a listed or near-listed company, demonstrating the ability to manage complex financial operations.
- Have a demonstrated history of success in treasury transformation projects, including system implementations or operating model redesigns that deliver measurable results.
- Exhibit hands-on leadership capability, effectively balancing individual execution with the development and empowerment of a high-performing team.
- Show deep expertise in payment controls, fraud risk management, and the establishment of strong governance frameworks to protect corporate assets.
- Bring a strong background in cashflow forecasting, FX (spot and forward) markets, RCF management, and proactive bank relationship management.
- Demonstrate the ability to influence and communicate effectively with C-suite stakeholders, including the CFO and Finance Director, articulating complex financial information clearly.
- Be available to commence the role within a tight timeframe of four to six weeks from the date of offer.
- Hold a thorough understanding of financial regulations and compliance standards relevant to treasury operations in the United Kingdom.
- Display exceptional problem-solving skills and the capacity to analyse intricate financial scenarios under pressure.
Nice to have
- Hold an ACT qualification, such as CertICM or MCT, which demonstrates a high level of treasury professionalism.
- Have direct experience with D365 or Dynamics treasury modules, showcasing familiarity with modern financial platforms.
- Possess familiarity with corporate banking platforms, SWIFT, SEPA transactions, and the implementation of Provision 29 controls.
- Bring a background in the travel, consumer tech, or payments sectors, offering relevant industry-specific insights.

This role requires a minimum of 60% office attendance over a 12-week period to ensure seamless integration with the team and effective collaboration.
