Key facts
What you'll do
- Take ownership of the vehicle architecture aspects for the AD-Kit System, ensuring that all design elements are aligned with technical requirements and project goals throughout the entire product lifecycle.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, safety, and cybersecurity engineers, to develop and refine vehicle architecture concepts.
- Develop and document vehicle architecture variations to support Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing, ensuring that different configurations meet testing and validation needs.
- Work closely with suppliers and internal teams to source components that meet system specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
- Conduct detailed analysis of vehicle systems to identify potential issues early in the development process, facilitating root cause analysis and troubleshooting during design, prototyping, and production phases.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in automotive systems, safety standards such as ISO 26262, and cybersecurity to continuously improve system architecture.
- Support the integration of vehicle hardware and software components, ensuring seamless communication and operation across data buses such as CAN, PCIe, Ethernet, Automotive Ethernet, LIN, and I2C.
- Contribute to the development of safety cases and documentation required for compliance with automotive safety standards, including functional safety and fail-operational control systems.
- Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, and project planning sessions to ensure architecture alignment with project timelines and objectives.
- Assist in the development of testing procedures, including lab-based and field tests, to validate vehicle systems and ensure they meet safety and performance criteria.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline, with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
- Proven experience in developing vehicle or system architecture for automotive or autonomous systems.
- Strong understanding of safety-critical and fail-operational control systems, with knowledge of industry standards such as ISO 26262.
- Familiarity with automotive electronic control units (ECUs), communication protocols, and data buses including CAN, PCIe, Ethernet, Automotive Ethernet, LIN, and I2C.
- Experience with requirements management tools such as Jama or equivalent systems.
- Knowledge of high-speed signaling, signal integrity, and PCB design considerations for automotive applications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex systems and identify root causes of issues.
- Strong communication skills, capable of working effectively with multidisciplinary teams and documenting technical information clearly.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing project requirements in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working within safety standards and developing safety cases for automotive or autonomous vehicle systems.
- Familiarity with automotive industry regulations and standards related to hardware and software development.
Nice to have
- Experience with ISO 26262 standards and ASPICE, with the ability to apply these standards in iterative design and development processes.
- Proven expertise in developing functional safety cases for Level 4 autonomous vehicle applications.
- Hands-on experience with high-speed signals on PCBs, including PCIe, Ethernet, and DDR memory, and understanding of their design considerations.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Python, and Linux, with experience in embedded systems development.
- Experience designing, executing, and documenting lab-based tests and real-world field tests to validate vehicle systems.
- Knowledge of automotive electronics industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Familiarity with standard lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal analyzers.

- The salary range for this position is between $132,400 and $158,900 USD.
