Quality Test Engineer, II

About the role

You will generate and execute test plans to uncover the limitations of our autonomous vehicle systems, collecting relevant data to drive measurable improvements. You will perform root cause analysis of identified defects and performance issues, then provide recommended solutions to engineering teams. You will design and deploy supplementary instrumentation and infrastructure required to capture data as defined by complex test plans. You will analyze test data and generate reports to communicate performance issues and capability improvements over time to stakeholders. You will maintain a verification and validation report showing current performance of the vehicle-level system against evolving system requirements. You will work closely with software component teams to generate quantifiable performance metrics and implement vehicle-level tests for individual system components. You will provide regular reports to software component and system design teams, consolidating test event results and generating detailed defect reports with supporting logs and evidence. You will perform on-road testing in autonomous vehicles as a detailed observer and annotator of system behavior. You will travel domestically or internationally to support on-road vehicle testing, up to 25% of the time as required by project schedules.

Complete software assignments including design, implementation, unit testing, vehicle testing, and deployed software maintenance, following quality, build, deploy, test, safety, and process requirements.

Support the development and execution of automated test frameworks and tools to increase test coverage and efficiency.

Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to ensure robust, safety-focused testing and delivery of capabilities within the Autonomous Eco System.

Validate software releases through defined test procedures and verify that system behavior aligns with specifications under varied conditions.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by documenting test procedures, results, and insights for long-term knowledge sharing.

Requirements

8+ years of experience in software testing, test automation, or a related technical role within a complex software development environment.

Demonstrated experience in a role involving vehicle, system, or safety-critical software testing and validation activities.

Strong proficiency with Linux command line, scripting, and programming in C++ or similar languages for test development and analysis.

Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated test frameworks in a software development context.

Proven ability to analyze large data sets, generate reports, and present findings to technical and non-technical audiences.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documenting defects, test results, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Willingness to travel domestically or internationally up to 25% for vehicle testing activities as required by project plans.

Eligibility to obtain and maintain any required security clearances or background checks as mandated by the role or client.
