Frontend Software Engineer II
Job description
About the role
This role owns the UI and presentation layer of our internal tools and reporting, creating role-based dashboards, scorecards, and workflow tools that give leaders real-time visibility into engineering health, AI and tooling spend, and cost data. The hire will design and deliver end-to-end user stories, transforming dense, multi-source data and manual processes into clear visualizations and streamlined workflows that turn complexity into action. You will partner closely with our Product Owner to identify and define the biggest opportunities for impact while collaborating with the team's technical lead on end-to-end solutions. As a component owner, you will break work down into well-defined tasks, drive delivery against the team's goals, and manage the quality, testing, and operational monitoring of what you ship. You will iterate daily with our internal users, including executives, engineering managers, and developers, to continuously improve the fidelity and usability of our tools and reporting. This role uses AI-assisted and agentic development workflows as a core part of the build process, sharing learnings openly with the team to raise the bar for everyone. You will leverage cutting edge AI tools to enhance your development workflow, improve velocity, and help pioneer new approaches to building, contributing to a culture of innovation and productivity across the team.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Own the UI and presentation layer of our internal tools and reporting, including role-based dashboards, scorecards, and workflow tools that let leaders at every level see engineering health, AI and tooling spend, and cost data for their teams, and act on it.
- Design and deliver end-to-end user stories, moving from the data a view consumes to the experience in front of the user, turning dense, multi-source data and manual processes into clear visualizations and streamlined workflows.
- Partner with our Product Owner to identify and define the biggest opportunities for impact, and collaborate with the team's technical lead on end-to-end solutions that balance user needs with technical constraints.
- Act as a component owner by breaking work down into well-defined tasks, driving delivery against the team's goals, and managing the quality, testing, and operational monitoring of what you ship to ensure reliability and clarity.
- Iterate with our internal users, including executives, engineering managers, and developers, to continuously improve the fidelity and usability of our tools and reporting based on real feedback.
- Use AI-assisted and agentic development workflows as a core part of how you build, and share what you learn with the team to elevate our collective capabilities.
- Leverage cutting edge AI tools to enhance your development workflow, improve velocity, and help pioneer new approaches to building, contributing to a culture of innovation and productivity across the team.
- Interpret and translate complex business and engineering requirements into intuitive interface designs that support fast decision-making and clarity for non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to align interface behaviors and data contracts, ensuring consistency and reliability across the product surface.
- Maintain a strong focus on performance and usability, optimizing front-end rendering, responsiveness, and accessibility for internal tools used at scale.
- Contribute to front-end architectural decisions, balancing tradeoffs between speed, maintainability, and long-term operational needs.
- Support testing and quality initiatives by writing and maintaining unit and integration tests, mocks, and stubs to ensure robust releases.
- Monitor production behavior using observability tools, escalating and triaging issues as they appear to minimize disruption for internal users.
- Document patterns and components so that the team can reuse and extend them efficiently over time.
Requirements
- 2+ years of frontend or full-stack software engineering experience, building data-rich user interfaces and internal tools that automate manual business/operational processes.
- Proficiency in a modern web stack, for example TypeScript/JavaScript and a component-based UI framework, plus working knowledge of SQL and how to consume APIs and data services.
- Hands-on use of AI-assisted and agentic development as a core part of how you build: you work with AI agents daily, not occasionally, and take ownership of the quality of everything they produce.
- An eye for information design: you care about making complex data legible, trustworthy, and useful to non-technical audiences.
- Ownership of quality for the work you ship, including appropriate testing, monitoring, and supporting your work in production.
- Strong collaboration skills: you communicate clearly with engineers, product, and business stakeholders, and adapt technical detail to the audience.
- Curiosity and a growth mindset: you seek feedback, embrace change, and want to grow toward broader ownership in a fast-moving environment.
- Comfort working in a small, highly leveraged team where you are expected to learn and grow with agentic engineering tools every day.
