Our mobile-first products and machine learning-powered credit models look beyond credit scores, using over 250 real-time financial signals to recognize real potential. With millions of customers worldwide, we are not just changing how people access financial products - we are creating a new credit system that backs the working, whatever they're working toward. The Head of Business Intelligence leads the Business Intelligence function that sits at the intersection of data modeling, metadata, and business context. This role owns the end-to-end BI strategy and execution, ensuring that data models and semantic layers accurately describe our business and that every model and metric has AI- and human-readable definitions within a trusted, living library. BI here focuses on models and tools, not on charts and dashboards.

What you'll do

• Own the BI function end to end, including the team, the roadmap, and the quality bar for models and metadata.
• Own the reporting data models across the business: listen to each team's metrics and questions, identify commonality, and build shared models that accurately reflect products and processes.
• Make metadata part of the product: add AI- and human-readable descriptions to every model and metric, and maintain a library of key metrics with reference SQL implementations the company can trust and build on.
• Provide a consistent, accurate data foundation so every team starts from the same trusted models and definitions instead of one-off pulls; BI does not run the analysis, but it makes the numbers everyone analyzes trustworthy.
• Exercise nimble judgment across a wide range of engaged stakeholders, juggling a long, shifting list of asks from product, finance, and engineering; prioritize what needs attention now, what can be declined, and where you must step in without taking over the work.
• Grow the team by raising the technical bar and business fluency, stepping in at the right moments and empowering the team to run when appropriate.
• With expert-level SQL and fluency with AI coding tools, review dbt work and modeling decisions from a team of highly competent BI Developers to ensure accuracy, maintainability, and scalability of the semantic layer.

Requirements

• Proven experience. Bring 7+ years in data modeling, analytics engineering, or BI, including 3+ years of directly managing people.
• Nimble judgment across engaged stakeholders. You can hold a long, shifting list of asks from teams who all want your attention, tell the most impactful from the rest, and know exactly where to focus. This is the trait we care about most.
• Steps in without taking over. You jump in at the right moment on the right problem and then step back - you do not micromanage, and you do not let things drift.
• Expert technical depth. Expert-level SQL, fluency with AI coding tools, and the ability to read and review dbt work from a team of highly competent BI Developers. You understand dimensional modeling, semantic layers, and what makes a reporting model accurate and durable, and you hold that bar through reviews and refinements while mentoring others to meet it.
• Comfort with fast-moving ambiguity. You make decisions with incomplete information and course-correct quickly, without waiting for perfect data.
• Strong written communication. You translate complex models into clear, shared documentation that keeps teams aligned.
• Bias for action. You prioritize progress over perfection and ship iteratively while maintaining a high quality bar.
• Curiosity and empathy. You seek to understand the business context behind every metric and build models that serve real user needs.
• Ownership mindset. You take responsibility for outcomes across the business and protect the team from unnecessary context switching.
• Pragmatic trade-off maker. You balance accuracy, speed, and cost, and know when a good-enough model is better than a late perfect one.

Nice to have

• Experience with modern data stacks built on dbt and a semantic layer tool.
• Familiarity with machine learning features and how models are evaluated in production.
• Background in financial services or credit risk where metrics have strict compliance implications.
• Experience mentoring BI developers and partnering with product and engineering leaders.

Practical notes

This is a full-time remote role based in the United States. Travel to Asia is expected 3-4 times per year. We operate on a flexible schedule but require core overlap for collaboration. The role reports to the Head of Business Acceleration and works closely with Product, Engineering, and Finance.
