About the role
You will own the end-to-end product strategy and execution for the Vault Expansion portfolio, defining the roadmap that enables banks to replace legacy "bank-in-a-box" systems with modern cloud-native infrastructure. You will act as the central orchestrator between engineering, go-to-market, compliance, and partnerships to ensure product initiatives directly drive revenue and adoption. As the foundational product leader in Lisbon, you will build a cohesive portfolio of products that deliver seamless client experiences and unlock additional value beyond Vault Core and Vault Payments. You will evangelize the platform internally and externally, shaping narratives that position Thought Machine as the definitive solution for legacy banking transformation. This role demands autonomy, cross-functional leadership, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into compelling product narratives for diverse stakeholders. You will be responsible for ensuring that every product decision enhances client capability and reinforces our long-term strategic vision in the banking ecosystem.

What you'll do
Define and own the multi-product roadmap for the Vault Expansion portfolio, aligning engineering delivery with strategic client and business outcomes.
Partner with GTM leadership to architect and execute go-to-market strategies that drive revenue growth, adoption, and market penetration for Vault Expansion products.
Champion the voice of the customer by aggregating feedback, identifying pain points, and ensuring engineering teams prioritize solutions that solve real client challenges.
Relentlessly analyze market trends, competitor offerings, and emerging technologies to ensure the Vault Platform remains innovative and future-proof.
Champion the Vault Platform externally and internally, articulating the strategic vision and new functionality to excite clients and stakeholders.
Develop and enforce Product Management best practices, collaborating with Engineering Managers to standardize processes across the Vault Payments and Expansion teams.
Discover and evaluate net-new business opportunities, guiding them from initial concept through to scalable and profitable product offerings.
Work cross-functionally with partnerships, compliance, legal, and partner product teams to design key use cases that differentiate our client offerings.
Support GTM and marketing teams by building lead generation campaigns, participating in client calls, and assisting in pitching and selling future products.
Collaborate with sales engineers to define compelling demos and proof-of-concept scenarios that showcase the full value of Vault Expansion capabilities.
Manage critical product partnerships to augment the product offering and ensure seamless integration and value realization for clients.
Provide strategic input into client discussions, leveraging deep product knowledge to address complex banking infrastructure transformation needs.
Ensure all product initiatives are delivered with a focus on quality, scalability, and alignment with Thought Machine's core platform strengths.
Act as the primary liaison between the Lisbon engineering hub and global leadership to ensure coherent product development and execution.
Requirements
Essential
5+ years of product management experience in a product-led technology company, demonstrating consistent delivery of impactful outcomes.
A proven track record of building and launching new products into market, managing the full lifecycle from discovery to scale.
Able to think from first principles, debate ideas rigorously, and rapidly learn new concepts in complex and evolving environments.
Strong client-facing interpersonal skills, coupled with an equally strong ability to engage in technical conversations with engineering and architecture teams.
Comfortable working with API-driven products or infrastructure, understanding how integration and connectivity drive value for banking clients.
A keen eye for UI/UX design, and proficiency in working with wireframing tools like Figma to translate concepts into tangible product designs.
Full-time, permanent employee willing to commit to four days a week onsite in our Lisbon office, with occasional travel to support HQ in London.
Demonstrated experience operating in regulated environments, showing an understanding of the constraints and responsibilities inherent to financial services.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders simultaneously while maintaining a high standard of work and attention to detail.
Desirable
Previous experience launching AI related features within products, understanding the unique challenges and opportunities they present.
Previous experience working in regulated industries such as banking, financial services, or payments, and familiarity with relevant compliance frameworks.
Practical notes
This is a full-time, permanent position based in our Lisbon office, requiring four days a week onsite. This role will also require occasional travel to our HQ in London, as well as travel to support sales teams.
