About the role
The role centers on owning the technical strategy and delivery for large-scale, complex digital products within Theodo's major client engagements. You will act as the primary guardian of architectural integrity and code quality for multiple squads, ensuring that the solutions delivered meet the high expectations of both technical and business stakeholders. This position offers the opportunity to directly influence the evolution of flagship products and platforms that power significant digital transformations. You will be responsible for mentoring and guiding up to four Tech Leads, translating high-level business objectives into coherent technical roadmaps. The position leverages a strong interest in Generative AI to innovate in the conception and development of next-generation digital services. You will work closely with Theodo's leadership to define and drive technical and organizational changes that enhance delivery efficiency. Success in this role is defined by your capacity to balance strategic vision with hands-on technical leadership.

What you'll do
Define and enforce the overarching technical architecture for complex, multi-squad digital projects to ensure scalability and robustness. Guarantee the quality and coherence of the codebase produced by multiple engineering teams under your responsibility. Act as the primary technical interlocutor for client stakeholders, including CTOs and VP Engineering roles. Manage the career and technical development of up to four Tech Leads, fostering their progression and expertise. Lead the conception of scalable and future-proof software architectures that align with ambitious business goals. Champion the adoption of Generative AI tools to enhance the design and development lifecycle of digital products. Drive the implementation of cross-cutting technical improvements across client organizations and within Theodo's operational framework. Translate high-level business features and requirements into detailed technical specifications and viable solutions. Provide expert-level leadership in resolving complex technical problems that arise during large-scale transformations. Collaborate closely with Group Project Managers to synchronize delivery strategies and resource allocation. Ensure that all engineering practices adhere to Theodo's Lean principles and quality standards. Represent Theodo's technical excellence in discussions with senior client leadership and decision-makers. Continuously evaluate and mentor the 16 engineers under your technical direction to elevate the overall team performance. Contribute to the strategic partnership discussions that define Theodo's business direction and platform offerings.
Requirements
Bring a minimum of 7 years and up to 14 years of professional experience in the software industry. Demonstrate a proven track record in managing technical teams and leading engineering departments. Possess substantial experience working within a service-based environment, such as an ESN or consulting firm. Showcase a strong mastery of Java, particularly Spring Boot, and/or Angular for large-scale applications. Exhibit the ability to design and oversee highly scalable and maintainable software architectures. Have a clear interest and understanding of how Generative AI can be applied to product design and development. Display exceptional leadership qualities and the ability to teach and mentor engineers effectively. Prove capability in solving intricate problems and implementing organizational changes at scale.

You will join a team led directly by Xavier, VP Engineering of the group, and work alongside a Group Project Manager. You will manage up to 4 Tech Leads, representing up to 16 engineers in total, ensuring their technical growth and alignment with Theodo's quality standards.
The recruitment process includes a qualification call with a talent acquisition manager, a 1-hour fit interview, a technical defect analysis test at home with a 1-hour debrief, a modeling interview, an interview with a senior director, and reference checks with former managers.
