What you'll do
Diverse sources are developed and maintained to secure exclusive content, with records kept in ENPS. Dynamic, accurate content is produced for broadcast and digital platforms to connect with local viewers. Producers and digital producers receive day-to-day leadership and coaching, with the senior producer serving as a resource and mentor. Planning meetings for big story coverage are set and participated in, with deep-dive or side-bar angles pitched during daily editorial meetings. Producer and reporter scripts are reviewed and edited to ensure accuracy and clarity. Data analytics are used to shape content and challenge traditional methods after discussion with supervisors. New approaches are tried consistently to push shows past competitors through creativity and strong storytelling. Digital production remains a priority from the first stages, advocating for underrepresented people and communities in coverage. Team motivation and leadership by example ensure all deadlines are met.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree is preferred in journalism, communications, or a related field, or equivalent years of experience. 3-5 years of news content experience are required. Top-notch communication skills are an absolute must. Solid journalistic judgement is required, with a news philosophy emphasizing accurate, fair, and unique local content and community engagement. Tenets of professional journalism are understood and applied. Skills in producing engaging, content-driven newscasts and digital content are necessary. Strong social media skills are required, including an active presence on preferred platforms. Organizational skills enable work under time-pressure deadlines. Live, breaking news situations and changing events are handled calmly. ENPS and Edius system experience is preferred.
